Homeland Season 8

It's a show which has very much had its ups and downs, but this was a brilliant way to end it. Slow burn to an incredible ending, not often a show ends on a note as high as this.

9/10

After Life S2 - I really don't know on this one. Fortunately I've not had the level of grief the main character in this is experiencing so I can't say whether it's a true reflection but it feels very much like it could be. It has absolutely heartbreaking scenes at times and the writing around some of the characters is very touching. But then it has other parts which just really jar with the tone. I think I understand where he was trying to go with the psychiatrist but it always feels like just an empty vessel that is almost the show's swear box. And there is maybe one or two scenes (definitely one) where another character feels like they're just acting as a mouthpiece for Gervais to make some kind of social commentary. But then there are so many points where the writing has such a light touch and it doesn't descend into just laughing at the village oddballs and for that I really like it. Overall I'd probably give it an 8.

I don't really want another series. But then I'm not sure I needed a S2 after the ending to S1. I wasn't massively struck by the ending, I guess you've got one person less sad but maybe another person more sad.

Gervais has definitely got a GR account though, surely nowhere else on the internet recycles that dog poo bin joke as much as we do.

Yep, I couldn't believe it when they covered that story! Even showed my Mrs the HD article that gets posted here every so often.

I'd give S2 an 9/10.

Did you think I chose this avatar randomly?

Series 3 will feature bowling, a Staydead defence and a weird neighbour sat on a stool.

My wife just reminded me that in S1 Gervais had a rant over somebody eating crisps too loudly.

I think we should sue him, he’s stealing all of our content. :x

I liked it, but it did feel like a rerun of S1 in several ways. I could see him doing S3 where he is living with the lovely care home woman, but I think he should just call it quits now.

And we should consider legal action. No one gets to steal GRcade in jokes. NO ONE. Not even Gervais.

I expect an entire episode about the benefits of OLED TV's.
Or bumming, you choose.

We'll know he has an account if he mentions the greatest debate of our time, Stand wipe or sit wipe.

The Musketeers
A fun adaptation with solid stories and satisfying, if quite simple, longer arcs. The leads develop a charming chemistry that kept me more then entertained. A shame the mighty P-Cap had to leave but his replacements filled the gap nicely, each added something else to the main villains. Was quite sad to reach the end.

The Planets
Brain Cox goes on a series of amazing looking walks as he explains the solar system. The Civilisations/Blue Planet of space. The Saturn ep probably my fav. Extraordinary stuff.

The Missing
Cor blimey. Well this had me hooked and then some. I highly enjoyed both series 1 and 2 but don't think 2 was as gut wrenchingly gripping. Both had me engrossed though as the stories jumped around various time periods. Baptiste slowly turned into one of my fav tv detectives.

Baptiste
A slightly more streamlined take on The Missing, no back and forth between the present and past. More of a thriller then a mystery but still cracking. Could watch Baptiste talk about anything for hours.

I've seen this before but have been rewatching with my lad as an alternative to the insultingly basic space stuff he was getting for homeschooling. He's been utterly fascinated by it. Brian Cox really is an excellent narrator, making everything easy to understand without dumbing it down.

He is. Although I did find his attempt to put the solar system in scale near the end didn't really work out. Cool though. Think the visual team did a superb job with the effects and cinematography to help illustrate everything to. Some truly mesmerising visuals in it.

Oh and I've also recently watched The Pale Horse which was also very good. I understand they made the ending more ambiguous which pissed off the Christieites but for me it added to the horror tone. Could almost have been an M.R. James thingy.

I’m going to let you into a secret. There’s a website called Google that lets you search for images.

Or if you’re a proper degenerate you can use Bing.

As my last read post button brought me to this page, I feel I have to express my disappointment at nobody suggestion he use Badabing.

Edit: this was on a page taking about the sopranos.
