Parks & Rec > The Community.

Ron Swanson is the man. Probably to his horror.

Anyway, The Haunting of Bly Manor. Solid old fashioned ghost story. The general cast is very likeable. A solid 8/10.

I prefer Hill House, but this is a totally different kind of a ghost story.

Swanson is 100% the best thing about P&R, but he's not good enough to elevate the show to the level of Community.

Wrong. The Community sucks.

Parks & Rec is so superior to Community it's ridiculous.

A documentary about the Challenger crews and the big incident in 1986.

House of Cards (Netflix)

I've watched all six series over the past couple of months and I've been eager to see it through to a conclusion.

It's quite peculiar as the show has no real likeable characters - everyone is so self-serving and untrustworthy. I found myself kind of rooting for Claire by the end and yet she's monstrous.

Hmmn. I wouldn't say I enjoyed it but I was invested in it; it was dramatic but odd, enthralling but unfulfilling. I think that a TV viewpoint can sometimes be impacted by the times in which you watch it and seeing this series fresh in 2020 made me feel a little uncomfortable; it was wildly impossible and yet almost believable.

What happens in the final season? I checked out after S5 when the Spacey stuff came out.

I think we only made it to S3 of House of Cards, in truth it was poor after the first season for me and I didn't see any reason to carry on

I loved the first couple of seasons, was bored for a couple and then never bothered again after the Spacey stuff came out.

The PS Vita scene at least builds on some element of the main character* as you then get the equally cringeworthy Monument Valley scene a season or two later.

The Samsung Tab swoosh thing is just absurd. If they can't see it on a 10" screen in front of them they're not going to have a much better time on a small LCD TV from the other side of the room!

*and excitement at PS Vita ownership clearly hints at his sociopathy.

The Haunting of Bly Manor - 6/10

I really liked Hill House as someone who generally doesn't get on with horror shows or films, but this really lacked the scares and surprises of that show. It was great that Victoria Pedretti got to be front and centre after her supporting role in the previous series but I think the decision to make this an AHS style anthology with the same actors largely didn't work, and it was the new actors that held a lot of the episodes together.

It's a good drama that found a heart in the end but never comes close to the central terror of its predecessor.

God I hated House of Cards. It was the most random shite I've ever watched. I have no idea how I watched 4 seasons of it. That was really stupid of me.
