I know the Elisa Lam story pretty well,

We all do. She was playing a game known as elevator to another world. Probably got possessed when she answered the woman on the fifth floor.

Any evidence for this?

I watched that last night and ended up being really angry at the web sleuths. What a bunch of wankers.
And web ‘sleuth’? Come on. Sherlock Holmes was a sleuth. Columbo was a sleuth. Some internet loser with too much time on their hands and not enough brains is not a sleuth.

Recently started watching Breaking Bad to see what it was all about.
So far it’s been so damn fine TV :capnscotty:

Just 3 episodes of season 3 left. My current feeling is that Jesse is going to screw up & Gus be like

Jesse is always doing something stupid, he really has no common sense whatsoever.

To give him credit Jesse does actually show more sense that Walter at times. Also he came up with the magnets idea so he's clearly a genius!

I watched three episodes of season 1 months ago and abandoned it because I was bored. Picked it up again over Xmas and all goodwill the later eps of season 1 earned were burned with season 2. Season 1 mostly stayed Star Wars adjacent which I appreciated but then they went overboard with awful awful original trilogy fanservice in season 2. The longer it went on the more I got flashbacks of Rogue One. Less said about the final scene the better.

Came in to post pretty much exactly this. The thing I liked most about it was how distant it was from the films, so when it started with all the strawberry floating fan service bullshit I zoned out a little. I think I liked it slightly more than MM, so I'd give it an 8 and a 6.

idk about that
Jesse's more naive but unlike Walter he's more likely to do the 'right thing'

The problem with the right thing though, is that it can also cause exposure to unnecessary risks.

I know the Elisa Lam story pretty well, and episode one is a bit of a tease in that in that it makes you think you're going to get wider sociopolitical context that makes her very sad story less of a 'supernatural mysterious death' over just the very sad case of a girl with serious mental issues being caught in a place and context with little to no recognition of mental health issues falling victim to the worst of it.

But it keeps not having a focus or a point to make. It explores the history of the hotel without explaining it's relevant to the case. It explores the Facebook Detectives without explaining why they're relevant. It does a bit of digging in the 'but teh CCVT doesn't do the matching' but without positing a point. It's just lots of information without any real link to the case. You could search for 'Elisa Lam' in Youtube and find a ten minute video with about as much insight into the actual case as this show does by episode 3.

I had to turn it off at the end of episode 3 when it gave actual airtime to the idea that because there's a test for Tuberculosis called the LAM-ELISA test, which is HOLY gooseberry fool Elisa Lam but strawberry floating BACKWARDS U GUIZ that meant that Elisa Lam was a Typhoid Mary for TB to wipeout the homeless people of skid row LA.

I don't know the story at all and watched the first two episodes last night but didn't really like it either. Without knowing where it is going they seem to be spending a lot of time on things that aren't relevant.

We didn't need a whole backstory over two episodes for the idiot British couple, who's only part in the story is complaining to the hotel about the brown water.

I almost turned off when they started showing the 'Web Sleuths' wondering why the timestamp on the video wasn't readable as if it was some huge conspiracy instead of poor compression.

I'll finish it as there's just two more episodes left but it feel like one hour of content stretched over four hours.

Not for nothing, and I can’t recall whether this is brought up by episode 2 but the brown water mentioned by the couple is...... relevant.

High Scores 7/10
Some of it was interesting, but the narrator was really annoying for the most part, concentrated too much on the US competitions for my liking, and there was barely anything mentioned from outside Japan and the US. Time jumping was confusing at times, and too often it talked about the US people interviewed in it as genius underdogs who overcame all the odds and were destined for greatness which got very tiring.

What I meant was that we didn't need to hear their backstory, or how they booked their holiday. They didn't even need to be in episode 1 at all. All we needed to know was that they complained about brown water and that led to the hotel searching the water tanks.

What would be a minute in any other documentary takes 10-15 in this. It's just one example of them padding for time. The whole thing is so slow.

Agreed for sure, there’s 20 minute YouTube videos that cover this case better than this.

The Flash S6 - 6/10

The whole season felt totally disjointed due to having too many separate plot threads going on, felt more like 3 or 4 mini seasons stuck together with a rushed ending due to Covid restrictions and a main cast member taking maternity leave Daniela Panabaker AKA Caitlyn Snow/Killer Frost being temporarily written out.

Hopefully S7 will be more coherent.

Binged The Boys series 1 & 2 over the past week:

Series 1 - 9/10
Series 2 - 9/10

Just excellent TV. Homelander and Billy Butcher were amazing
