Making that easier to spot (well, spottable at all) was probably another good change in the remake

Finally got around to playing this and I loved it. Hadnt played Links Awakening since the DX release all those years ago. This was deifnitley easier with the QOL stuff and the hints, I did need to check a guide a couple of times but the answer was usually due to me not paying attention or having no patience for things. It was shorter than I expected it to be but thats not a bad thing, I dont like when games out stay their welcome and it was nice to get through a Zelda game in less than a week, something I havent managed since was a teenager with all the free time in the world.

Lucky for you there are more heart pieces in the remake! :P

I bet it's the one in the castle moat. I was always missing one on the gameboy version (I dug every single screen's tiles with the space searchin for it, inside and out) and I'm pretty sure it was this one.

I guess I'll never know for sure! The availability of guides these days makes this sort of thing much less of an issue, but I'm not completely sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing, certainly makes games shorter!

The silly neighbourhood vegetable.

Started this when away, just got the second instrument. Some of the music is very similar to the Pirate Falls area music from LegoLand and keeps getting that stuck in my head.

I'm not sure I can agree, had I not been using a guide I would have taken sodding hours to work out that horrid maze.

Made it to the egg.

Managed the first 3 battles before getting strawberry floated over by trident dude.
Very annoying that I have to redo the sodding route to the battle again, so stopped playing before I get too pissed off and will do it later.

My guess is I need to find an opportunity to spin attack the trident bitch which isn't going to be fun as I suck at the spin attack....

IIRC, the technique for that guy is to equip the Pegasus boots and just charge at him continuously and you should get in enough hits before he even throws the trident.

That's not a bad idea! I'll give that a go, I also want to go find another fairy jar (I have 1) as they will come in handy.

I’m not sure how many there are but I’ve got two. One from delivering the ghost to his resting place and one from the fishing game.

Managed it without fairies in the end. Once I realised a charged sword held off the spinning trident while I moved round it it wasn't as bad, was getting to the last form with only 3 hearts left but after a couple of goes I found the rythem and finished having lost only 8 hearts.

So yay completed!! (And by completed I mean I saw the credits)

I think I died more in this to Final Boss spoiler > fake Ganon than I did in the original and DX simply due to forgetting what to do and instead of working it out spending ages trying to remember  I do that a lot with games tbh, instead of just working something out again I'll spend hours just trying to remember it instead. It's stupid but that's me all over.

On entering/exiting doors it will often stutter pretty badly and I don't think they ever meaningfully patched it. Luckily those transitions aren't really gameplay affecting.

Some people have reported problems, I never experienced anything like it at all though I played it in handheld mode.
