Whelp at dungeon 7, going to retry it when I can complete it in one sitting, only got a short amount now so probably not the best one to get partway through before leaving it.

I'm a decent chunk of the way through the 5th dungeon now (though it's my 6th having completed the colour dungeon already). Having a lot of fun, the dungeon design is absolutely excellent.

Yesterday evening I got up to the first key, then a few rooms more before thinking it may be better to do it in one sitting rather than doing a bit yesterday and the rest tonight, it just looks complicated

This game really doesn’t give you too many hints does it? I am having to refer to online walkthroughs. Decent game, but not a true nintendo title imo. Feels a bit like an indie title.

There’s literally a hint phone line in the game.

The frame rate issues may well be the most overblown technical complaint about a game ever.

Need to check that out. Framerate is ok, and doesn’t bother me. I think my main issue is that it doesn’t feel like a true Nintendo title.

Literally one of the all time classic Nintendo titles...."doesn't feel like a Nintendo title" :slol: :fp:

when you guys say frame rate issues do you mean that thing where link suddenly slows down? or is that just me?

Yeah it halves from 60fps to 30fps, normally when entering new areas or leaving buildings. I’ve noticed it a fair few times but its not detracted from the experience at all. Just up to Turtle Rock now anyway, kind of sad I’m nearing the end of this game.

Edit, Turtle Rock done, that means I’ll be finishing this off tomorrow by the looks of it, will probably then play through Ori and some more Grid Autosport before going back to do a 100% run of this, might try it on hero mode as well.

No way. It hasn't hindered my enjoyment in any way but it's jarring when Nintendo games are usually immaculately polished and this doesn't seem anywhere near the technical level of BOTW or Odyssey. When you're charging full price for a remade Gameboy game it's not acceptable.

The frame rate issues happen way to much. They really do, it, as I have said is a minor annoyance. BotW has much worse framerate issues, but they were much less frequent.

Just beaten this, what a lovely game overall. Didn’t find out what the cream you can pick up in the latter dungeons did till I was facing the final boss, I’ll definitely be playing through this again at some point.

Yeah I found that quite early on, thought it was a different item to the cream you can find though, evidently not!

If you have the cream already applied the cream gets put back in the chest and they stay unopened :x

I know you're trolling but it's interesting to note that Link's Awakening started development as a side-project done after work hours so the "indie" spirit makes a sort of sense.

Nope. The 7th dungeon may have ran circles around me a couple times but I enjoyed it.

As for the frame-rate issues, although they can be intrusive, it doesn't encroach on the prevailing charm of the world and its characters. I think that, more than the actual dungeons, is what I like most about Link's Awakening.

The frame rate was noticeable at first but now I don't really notice it that much, the frame rate feels more steady in handheld though.
