Judging by the lighting they're once again (as they did with Yoshi's Crafted World) using Unreal Engine 4 on this.

If Animal Crossing looks as good as this then I'll be very happy :)

Must not start yet another playthrough of the original.

I'm hyped, so I've restarted Link Between Worlds. Still a lovely game. Cleverly gave LTTP nostalgia with a fresh story. Hope that Link's Awakening remake will have lots of extra content, and would be great if they did the Oracle games in the same engine too.

Oh, and I love the tilt-shift blur on the Link's Awakening remake. It exaggerates the toy effect look.

The style is perfect for Animal Crossing.

I really hope they have make some progress with AC and don’t just do New Leaf’s style (and really, the style that series has had since it began) in HD.

Love the art style so much

Either I’ve completely forgotten but I really can’t remember playing this one too much the first time round.

Multiplayer mode possible? Four Swords? :shifty:

For comparison:

- Super Mario Maker 2 is missing the "players" section on nintendo.co.uk but says "To be determined" on nintendo.com
- Daemon X Machina says TBD
- Dragon Quest XI confirms 1 player
- Fire Emblem Three Houses confirms 1 player
- Astral Chain says TBD
- Yoshi's Crafted World confirms 1-2 players

Eh, the remake looks ok. It's no Tales of Illusia.

This was a lovely surprise in the direct, I was hoping for a new Zelda and thought a 2D game was probable but a Link's Awakening remake was almost the last one I was expecting!

I love the art style, think it really suits the game and fits with the Game Boy heritage. The original was my first ever Zelda game and I loved playing it as a kid, although to my shame I've never completed it as I'm largely rubbish at 2D Zelda games. Looking forward to having the opportunity to play through the whole thing.

Hopefully if this does well it leads to remakes of other 2D Zelda games - I'd love to see LttP and the Oracle games remade in the same engine.

Interesting, they could have a multiplayer side mode which would be cool.

I wonder if further down the line they give the Oracle games this type of remake?

Started another game on 3DS tonight to mess about in, called myself ZELDA for that funky alternate title screen music, then as soon as I got the sword I set about killing 90 enemies without leaving the overworld to trigger the DX only tunic glitch. Skipped over the red and blue tunics so now my Link is permanently in the damage sprite tunic which still gives double damage :D

I got magic powder, the bow and roc's feather (and an extra heart from beating Tail Cave) and then used Kennel World to skip straight to the final boss (I may have save scummed a little to practice beating him...), so that's technically game complete! :P

I've been trying to work out if you can use the Kennel World to skip needing to use Marin to get to Yarna desert, which would allow you to keep her with you as a partner for the rest of the game. (In the original you can screen warp past the walrus but you can't do that in DX and I've never seen mention otherwise of a way to keep Marin.)

I figure none of this is going to be in the remake so I'm not spoiling myself for it as much as I would by just replaying the game.

Not having the internet back in the day, I had no idea any of that was possible, not even the warp glitch.

Yeah neither did I back when I got DX for my Game Boy color. I got into delving into all the glitches when I bought a copy of the original game from gamestation's retro cabinet when I was in secondary school and when the internet could tell me what to do.

I did know about the ZELDA easter egg, I think I must have read about it in a magazine or a cheatbook.
