I'm normally similar but I haven't played this game since approximately 1995 and it was one of the games to hook me on gaming. So I'm definitely in.

This means you haven't played the DX version content either like the color dungeon, so all the more reason (assuming they keep it, and I can't think why they wouldn't).

That is correct! I would assume they'd keep the colour dungeon too.

Tried the original, and, er... didn’t get on with it. It felt too old. Sorry.

On the plus side that means this version should really work for me!

You'll never convince me that the original doesn't play great and hold up to this day, but it undoubtedly would benefit from some modernising QOL updates, so if that means more people playing the game then that's fantastic :toot:

It's wonderful. Got the classic Zelda thing going on but everything is from another world character and item wise. It's like Mario bros 2 to mario bros

I'm worried it's all rose tinted glasses - but LA was amazing. And anyone who wasn't wrecked by the ending is an emotionless monster

I played the Original for the first time last year. It is fresh enough in my mind to see the remakes "scene for scene" equivalency. It certainly looks like this will be faithful to the source.

Nice video! The entrance to the mysterious forest (with the owl) is a fair bit different in appearance actually. Kanalet castle, as well as the visual differences, has a functional change as it now has a ledge that can be jumped down on the roof where there wasn't one before. In Mabe village there is a height difference with a cliff edge to the left of the flying rooster that wasn't there originally. It makes sense thinking about it as in the original there are "implied" slopes where cliff edges just stop, but now we're in actual 3D they have to actually work those out properly. In appearance the underground section with the goombas is more cave-like now with less bricks.

I literally can't stop myself from poring over every detail

I think I might start another play through of DX on 3DS tonight :shifty:

Link's Awakening also has my favourite small piece of game music ever, which is when you get your sword from the beach, and there's a triumphant little tune leading into the classic Zelda theme.

I can hear that now

I love how the little cave tune was referenced in BOTW shrines too.

I like the world-in-your-pocket, plastic toy-box vibe (sort of like the Lost Kingdom in Odyssey) but wonder if it'll take away from the earthy and epic thing I normally go to a Zelda for.

But Zelda aesthetics often worry me (SS, BotW) and then I'm always converted in the playing, so yeah; Hype!

And already excited for Tal Tal Heights theme!

:D

1) We can already see the sword, shield and roc's feather all being used at the same time, so there is definitely /some/ difference
2) Please yes god please (and fast text skipping in general too please)
3) Given the visual overhaul I think we'll probably be okay
