I think it's the internet in general, not just this forum!

Because its a discussion forum. Specifically this is a thread about Skyward Sword, where you might expect to find discussion about the merits of that game, and not all of us thought it was that good.

Just as not all of us liked wind waker, or Twilight Princess, or any other given title in the series.

I mean, it's probably the same for most franchises, more so the most popular ones that have changed style over the years like Zelda.

And Skyward Sword is arguably the most controversial 3D Zelda. Plus given the low level of apparent changes and what may be considered by some (me) as money for old rope, you can expect it to be given shorter shrift for the things it does do wrong.

Incidentally I’ve just bought Mario 3D World again to play in co-op so I’m hardly innocent in the ‘money for old rope’ encouragement deal.

I dunno this place seems more negative than most

Why go to the trouble of seeking out a discussion about something you dislike?

Pretty much exactly my fear for the art style!

Its all about getting the DoF right for me. Playing on an HDTV at the time my only issue were making out the details in faces. Unless it was a close up it could be difficult to see their expressions.

So threads should only contain discussion from people who have nothing but good things to say about the subject? Seems a bit echo-chambery to me.
Not everything Nintendo puts out turns to solid gold I'm afraid (As much as I wish it did). There is perfectly valid discussion to be had around what a lot of people perceive as the lesser aspects of any given game

And for what it's worth I don't dislike Skyward Sword. It's a generally good game but I still think it's the worst of the 3D Zelda games (Outside of the DS ones perhaps).
There are numerous aspects of it that I didn't particularly like and it remains the only Zelda game I've never had any inclination or desire to return to. That shouldn't preclude myself, or anyone else that doesn't think it's amazing, from discussing it.

EDIT: Oh and just to clarify my earlier post, I loved Wind Waker and really liked Twilight Princess as well, but I know those games have their critics.

I hope this perhaps is only because you're not sure if they should be counted as 3D games...

They're kind of a weird hybrid I guess.

But mostly it's because I've not really played much of them. Phantom Hourglass got repetitive really quickly from what I remember and Spirit Tracks I've only ever dabbled in.

I'd say they are definitely 2D Zelda games on all but a technicality

Because it's a discussion...?

Can you imagine how dull it would be if every conversation was just,
"I liked this Zelda game"
"Yes, it was good, wasn't it"

So for the sake of discussion we should all talk about things we don’t like and don’t like talking about and talk about them?

Now you're just being obtuse. Nobody is saying you have to talk about things you don't like. We're saying that exchanging ideas and opinions with people who do like those things is conducive to a good conversation.

It made perfect sense.

Really not sure why you have an issue with people enjoying a debate about a videogame series they like. Nobody is mindlessly slagging off the games without reason.

Reasoned criticism is fine and other people's opinions can give you alternative perspectives on things.

Yup.

I might disagree with a lot of the things some people who like this game have to say about it, but that doesn't mean I don't want to hear their opinion.
