I'm at 10:50 having fixed the windmill and lit the tower. My time is probably a little on the slow side due to streaming but I do know the game well.

Only just started this. I get the controls for the camera are dogshit and awkward for a reason, and I can cope with holding L for 95% of the game.

But do they really need to have this shite on-screen every time? I'm going to get burn-in on my monitor ffs

Not the greatest first impression :fp:

Theres a simple UI option but it doesn't get rid of that look prompt for some reason.

Playing Zelda games makes me really wish Nintendo had some kind of achievement/trophy system. It brings out the completionist mentality in me lol.

Not that i'd really want them to do it, but it would be so obvious to grade

Green Star = Platinum
Gold Star
Silver Star
Bronze Star

I remember when they said they'd do something with those Nintendo coins and then they only integrated it with their mobile games was really lame.

I actually like it that Nintendo haven’t gone down the achievement/trophy route to be honest.

Just about got to the Lanayru Mining Facility, I’ll probably get that done tomorrow.

I think having a little extra incentive doesn't hurt tho. Even just having something to show for it goes a long way. Weird how our game hours are public and nothing else lol.

My Switch screenshot library is like a record of games I have completed as I normally take a screenshot on the credits or end screen, it's self-directed which is nice. While achievements can be fun I do think they can harm the experience and I like that they don't exist on Switch. System achievements homogenise the experience of playing games a little. They add an external pressure to playing games in certain ways, they add this compulsion for me to pay them attention. And as much as they are touted as a layer on top of a game, I think they do restrict game design by being mandated.

Which is all to say, please keep them away from my precious Zelda :P

I don't mind trophies for main game progression, it's nice on the PS4 seeing stats in that regard.

I hate achievements for pointless stuff like "jump 40 times while facing East" though

I did that last night and I'm up to the Ancient Cistern now. Whilst I enjoy this section it is a little bit of a shame the water quest is back tracking rather then something that feels more bespoke. That said they escalate things enough that it keeps you on your toes. Plus it means you can do this- https://www.twitch.tv/mattking85/clip/C ... 9HxAYYm5RO
