Trust me. People not in the know ask what appear to us as the weirdest yet simplest of questions. It's understandable, though. It's okay, though. I can understand why you might think LEGO The Skywalker Saga is nothing but a remaster of old content with new content included despite it always from the very first trailer being said to be a completely brand new experience... I at least did the right thing when I encountered such people and educated them nicely. You have to, really.

Feeling pretty called out

(I don't think it's that crazy, GTAV on PS5 is being marketed as a "brand new experience" too ;) )

Oops. At least you can back me up on that statement, though.

I am not sure exactly why Nintendo have released another Skyward Sword trailer, and not sure why they've done it so close to the Direct and with a name that made me think it might even be DLC (one can only dream!), but this trailer is good and the ending is

Warning, a little spoilery if not played the game to at least 2/3rds in! It kind of acts as if the story point that happens at that point is the premise of the whole adventure.

Finished this a few days ago and just can't find another game that doesn't have me thinking "I wish I was still playing Zelda instead".

I think the final third has too many crappy sections in it. For example, the Tad Tones... wtf bro?! :dread:

The second time fighting The Imprisoned is fine. It lends good weight to the character itself as a Big Bad, the battle is obviously slightly different and it's just no problem, IMO. Then you have to fight it a third time... yeah, they shouldn't have done that.

However, the final third is also when Skyloft really seems to come into its own. I found myself caring more about the little side quests than the main story.

Overall I would say I loved it and I'm sad it's over. It really does look great, as well. Excellent game .

I really need to get back to this, it's on the cusp of becoming a full on abandoned game at this point :dread:

Just completed the Sandship, which is quite a jump from when I last reported on progress. Needless to say, I had to resort to a walkthrough because of my obliviousness. Of course sunlight means you can see outside, so maybe you should have aimed an arrow up instead of running around like a headless chicken trying to find something you'd missed. Great dungeon overall, though. Time for another trip to Eldin Volcano next, then.

I've been playing this pretty much non stop recently and by god, this game is so bloody good! I played it on Wii but didn't get more than 10 hours in so it feels pretty new. The dungeons are the best in the series, especially the build up to and including the Sandship!

The boss fights have been incredible too, of course it doesn't compare to Breath of the Wild, but it's just fantastic

Finished this last night. Absolutely loved it! Best dungeons in the series by far.

As when I finish any Zelda, I’m left wondering what the hell I’m supposed to do now.

The only good solution I found after finishing SS was to go back to OoT on the new Switch Online service.

I'm passed the first inprisoned fight (after the mining facility). Really enjoying it now, took a while to get into it. Honestly, after playing BotW - skyward is probably a bigger step back than what Mario 64 is to Odyssey and at first the linear, on rails restrictive movement set, hand holding, lack of exploration got a bit of getting used to. But I started appreciating it is around the volcano-y bit. Never been that interested in Zelda lore, but I'm really liking the story and the character dialogue etc now. The art style which sits somewhere between WW and TP in tone is really charming and I'm loving the sky loft. The mining facility might be the best Zelda dungeon ever.

I'd argue more "step-sideways" than "step-back" (although there are obviously mechanics that were further developed in BOTW like the sailcloth and stamina), the games are focused on opposite ends of the Zelda gameplay scale. Like with the dungeons that are most obviously not a step-back from BOTW as they are much better in Skyward Sword if that's what you're playing for! I get the whiplash of going from one to the other though, they might be the most different two Zelda games can get.

For me it feels like a step back because there is so much of BotW DNA in this game, but the ideas are much less developed in SS (the sailcloth you can't control glide it just breaks your fall or allows you to use thermals to reach higher points. The stamina in BotW was only applied to how long you can sustain running / climbing but in SS it is also applied to battle and sword swings which is restrictive. Weapon durability if your shield breaks in SS you can't just pick up another one you are left without a shield until you return to Skyloft).

I am loving this game and once I stopped wanting it to be something its not, I really started enjoying it. After BotW, it is nice to have your adventure well paced and completely laid out for you, where you just go with the flow and don't worry you are missing out on a bunch of stuff on the path not travelled. The dungeons are way better than the divine beasts and the lead up to the dungeons; faron wood, the volcano, the desert also feel quite dungeony and fun to get around. As sad as this is, the desert power generator puzzle and earth temple key pieces puzzle have been my favourite parts of the game so far. I say this as someone that won't pay an extra tenner for the remastered version of Uncharted 4; SS is one of the most justifiable remakes ever - the gameplay quality of life improvements make the remaster way better than the Wii version.

The one tiny complaint I have about this game is for me, it doesn't quite nail the sky diving / flying parts. The sky is the SS equivalent of traversing Hyrule by horse or the sea in WW by boat, its very cool but there isn't that much to explore. I'm very interested to see what the BotW sequel does with the sky area / gliding sequences.

All I want to do is play this game

Ranking Zelda games has never been discussed on the internet before but unless SS really drops the ball later in the game of the ones I've played properly I'd rank it;

BotW > LA > SS > WW > OoT > LttP >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> TP

You must be so pumped for the long rumoured Switch port of Twilight Princess HD

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

This has fallen perilously close to the "never going back to" status in my backlog now. Haven't touched it since August last year and I can't even remember what point I was at.

It had been a good (and occasionally great!) adventure up to that point, but it was just lacking that certain something and has been squeezed out of my play time by other contenders!
