In a position to start this soon - I've finished New Pokemon Snap and have next week off to do some DIY and decorating which should only take a couple of days.

Check out my YouTube channel!

Thankfully they’re a lot less annoying in the HD version

Hope you enjoy it though!

Fi is an utter bane on the experience of playing this IMO

Fi was easily the worst thing about the original, I've not played the remaster but was under the impression she was loads better - but apparently still not great! Although I sort of hope Jen has just missed some option to turn Fi off or something

The second worst thing about the original was the hugely obtrusive UI. You learned to unsee it, but the game is very pretty and it detracted from that. Third was the repeating of pickup descriptions every play session, which fortunately didn't impact me as much as I was at uni at the time and played it for some long sessions. That one is definitely fixed in the remaster afaik!

I never had a problem with Navi.

I've checked the option menu and there's nothing there about turning Fi off sadly!

UI isn't too obtrusive, but maybe I've just used up all of my anger on Fi so I've got none left to care about that!

No the UI is definitely much slickened. And Fi is much reduced. The original would make Jenuall combust.

I love Fi, because of her design, her musical theme and some of the latter game stuff. None of that is really moment-to-moment gameplay but to me it Is an important part of SS's whole.

I always thought SS was perhaps the most formulaic (on its own terms) of the games in structure but I'm currently playing MM which has a similar Formula-Per-Area approach (local crisis, mini adventure with mask, full dungeon) - but SS's is probably the most transparent perhaps because of its leaning towards gameplay over RPG/story-texture and perhaps because the formula has so many parts (especially when the Silent Realms are introduced) that feel like renditions, or Areas-With-A-Twist - like an environment put through a gameplay mechanic filter.

Or maybe it's the back-and-forth pan-sky fetch-quest-iness - in MM once I've entered (eg) The Swamp I can happily crack on and complete without having to exit to the world proper. I think? Might be misremembering details.

But there's definitely something also about the moment you realise you've got to go and do a fetch for the Water Dragon. I don't know if it's the phrasing or timing or pacing of that moment but a lot of people seem to drift off there? (Including in this thread!) - if it was a YouTube video analytics there'd definitely be a drop-off there!

This game is tough at even early points eh, finding the 5 key pieces sucked.

Started this a couple of nights ago. About 6 hours in (so early).

Really enjoying it so far, but have not decided which control method I prefer. Sticks are certainly more accurate, and using the left bumper to move the camera around quickly becomes second nature, but using the motion controls feels a bit more immersive and satisfying (except the thrust / shield bash motion, which always breaks my mind for some reason).

Was wondering what control method some of you ended up settling with (or did you mix it up depending on docked / portable mode)?

This has been displaced from my gaming time again, I really should try to finish it off. But then Xenoblade 3 is out soon....

And if you were to pick it up again, would you use motion controls or the sticks?

I've mixed between the two a fair amount in all honesty, I quite like the motion controls most of the time but I never really had an issue playing it handheld and using the sticks either.

Helpful answer I know!

No, that's a fair response. I think it's how I feel.

I might find the loftwing bits easier now I have just learnt that there is a motion (and indeed an equivalent button press) for gaining elevation. Somehow I completely missed it during the tutorial. I thought catching the cup / golden snitch / whatever it was tricky.

About 9 hours in now and absolutely loving this.

Really surprised by how many mechanics, sound effects etc that were in BotW first appeared here.
