Really not sure why you have an issue with people enjoying a debate about a videogame series they like. Nobody is mindlessly slagging off the games without reason.

Reasoned criticism is fine and other people's opinions can give you alternative perspectives on things.

I would also add that when it's a series such as Zelda, that is one of my favourites (Top 3 easily), I'm even more interested in discussion around it's more flawed or divisive entries. To try and figure out where it may have gone wrong and how it can get better.

For what it's worth the complete change to the formula with BOTW was the exact thing the franchise needed and the polar opposite of the previous few entries (Though BOTW isn't without it's divisive elements).

Two people don't need to be in agreement to have a discussion.

For example, this is a discussion we're having right now. There's no shouting, no one is being agressive. We disagree but I wouldn't describe this as an argument.

Really not sure why you're being so awkward about this shy guy 64.

People enjoy discussing what they like and dislike about a videogame series they like. It's that simple.

I hope this perhaps is only because you're not sure if they should be counted as 3D games...

They're kind of a weird hybrid I guess.

But mostly it's because I've not really played much of them. Phantom Hourglass got repetitive really quickly from what I remember and Spirit Tracks I've only ever dabbled in.

Ah ok, they're terrible. Particularly Spirit Tracks

Its been a long time but honestly at the time I enjoyed PH more then WW. If nothing else at least it felt finished.

What sense is there in talking about something you don’t like?

Except a few games in the Zelda series I find most of them have some faults of varying degrees, even BoTW but this doesn’t stop most of them from being excellent games, Skyward Sword included.

I’m not though. I was asking about something I didn’t understand which is not the same as seeking out a discussion of something I don’t like

What sense is there in talking about something you don’t like?

The point is there can be value and satisfaction in discussing what you liked or didn't like about any given thing.

As I've already said, identifying where I think mistakes were made in Skyward Sword allows other to come forward and either agree or disagree with that sentiment. That generates conversation and yes, potentially some argument. That in itself can be an enjoyable way to spend time, talking to people who share the same interest and love of a series as I do.

I can understand talking about what you think could be improved about something. What don’t understand is why on a website where you can pick what to talk about people opt for something they don’t like every time it comes up. Nor do I understand how mostly positive topic is any less of an echo chamber than bringing up the exact same complaints every time the game comes up. Surely if we just go from one extreme to another we’ll just end up in an endless argument

We don't know what changes Nintendo are going to make in this remaster yet, so I think it makes a lot of sense that people who had problems with the original game would suggest which parts they would like to see changed. Maybe think of it that way shy guy!

See that would make sense, a discussion about how something could be improved rather than making the same complaints over and over

It's been a long time since I played either of those but I only really have the urge to go and replay WW. That's probably because I feel like I can't be bothered with the touch controls for PH

I completed it but I honestly can't remember any of the dungeons apart from the Yeti House thing. I remember the jar boss with a load of arms and scimitars being good.

I can get that but I think the touch controls were a large part of what made me enjoy it so much then. It reinvigorated the basics which lead to some unique ideas that couldnt be done elsewhere. That and the sailing part wasnt as time consuming. Whilst I remember the central dungeon strawberry floating me off a bit (I think it was mainly the MM like time limit that did it tbh) it was also a very interesting idea. Certainly more so then WW repeated returns to Forsaken Fortress. ST did this much better actually.

I can look back now at PH and realise the dungeon design is pretty lightweight (again something I think ST did better) but frankly I feel the same way about WW in that department.

Anyway! Skyward Sword! Its interesting the way some see Metroid in it and I felt the same but I also think its got Mario Galaxys micro design philosphy all over it and I love that SS make nearly everything a puzzle of some sort.
