Not sure why you'd only buy four or five games for the system, say the look stunning and limit yourself to that.

There's at least another dozen or so you could pick up, and all exclusives so you can't get them anywhere else. You should give them a go, now you have the chance.

Nothing else I really want, I MAY get Super Metroid to play on game pad, possibly Super Mario World but I've no need for anything third party.

I adore Zelda, Ocarina remains one of the greatest games made to me and love Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. I needed a Wii U for a long time but bawked at the cost, now that's gone I've jumped and gotten what I've missed.

I have an absolute boat load of games for my X1, halo wars 2 most recently plus new Mass Effect unlocks in a couple of weeks. I'm also saving now for a 4K tv and Scorpio.

But there's more you've missed out on, except this time you'll actually have the console but will be choosing to pass them by.

Here's a quick list:

Pikmin 3
That Xenoblade sequel
Splatoon
Smash Bros
Captain Toad
Bayonetta 2
Mario Maker
Donkey Kong TF
Yoshi's Wooly World
That Kirby Paintbrush thing
Nintendo Land (could be good with your daughter)

Then there's some stuff you could play elsewhere, like Hyrule Warriors or ZombiU, that might be worth playing.

Pikmin 3 - Didn't like Pikmin 1 so not into the series.
That Xenoblade sequel - For JRPG's I've just bought Blue Dragon for X1 and have Lost Odyssey also on X1
Splatoon - As much as it appeals I currently play Overwatch and Battlefield 1 extensivley on X1 for my mp
Smash Bros - Literally can't stand the series, bought it twice and just can't get on with it.
Captain Toad - No idea what this is
Bayonetta 2 - Haven't finished the first one but runs lush on X1 back compat, this is a maybe
Mario Maker - No interest in it at all, not massive fan of 2D Marios, I've rinsed them all to death
Donkey Kong TF - Loved Donkey Kong country is this on par? again a maybe
Yoshi's Wooly World - Have Yoshi's Island on my 3DS and I've heard its the best one (plus had it on Snes)
That Kirby Paintbrush thing - Pass
Nintendo Land (could be good with your daughter) - I've upped my Dad/daughter gaming ratio, not least with 3D Mario Land that I got but also with Overcooked, Castle Crashers, Lego Starwars and Diablo 3 (not kidding) on X1

Then there's some stuff you could play elsewhere, like Hyrule Warriors or ZombiU, that might be worth playing.

Hyrule Warriors doesn't appeal at all and didnt review well, I have Zombi on X1 (I know a lot of my points was to do with the X1 but it is my main console, esp as my 360 games work on it).

As I've said before I've been wavering over a Wii U purchase for quite a while now so I've read up on all the games, read all the reviews and looked into things over the years. I had a clear path for when I got one ie - Zelda's, a Mario game and possibly a couple of retro classics.

Captain Toad is one of the most adorable games ever created and is super fun to boot. It's a full game of the Captain Toad levels from the Mario Galaxy games.
Definitely look it up, it's a complete must have for any Wii U owner. Again, something you could play with your daughter, but there's plenty to love for everyone there.

Captain Toad - No idea what this is Its the Captain Toad levels from 3D world given their own game, get it, its cheap and its great
Mario Maker - No interest in it at all, not massive fan of 2D Marios, I've rinsed them all to death Exactly why you should get Mario Maker. :D

Also get the Shantae games, theyre great.

It's sitting at 76 on metacritic

The 3DS version is also better (but only has 70 presumably because it was only better on the N3DS and ran terribly on the regular)

I have really tried my best to complete Twilight Princess HD before I get Breath of the Wild on Wii U on Friday.

After lots of going back and forth, I've finally reached the City of the Sky.

I think I'm near the end, but it's not going to happen before Friday :-(

I think that most people who have played Mario Maker would agree that it takes 2D Mario to strange and exciting new places :toot:

Get the TW101. It still saddens me how that game sold so little. It's a flawed game, but it's amazing to behold.

101 is great, the only thing that gets me about it is too many instant deaths and there's just so much going on at times it's really rattling trying to think your way through the controls and different unite morphs within a few seconds. will definitely finish it but man is it a confusing game. It's utterly insane.

Edit: oh this is zelda thread. I did complete twilight princess hd a few weeks ago, I think it took me 50hrs with most hearts.

Speaking of going back to "old" hardware, started mgs4 on PS3 and the framerate is awful at times. You just don't have this problem on wii u.

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

I've just got the Ice Ruin left to finish off in Link Between Worlds and then the final dungeon which I'm assuming is Hyrule/Lorule castle, managed to get through most of the dungeons this week so hoping I'll get this finished off tonight ready to start Breath of the Wild Tomorrow :D

Finished the Twilght Princess just in time for tomorrrow , really enjoyed it all the way through and surprised at how much there is to do.

On to the Breath of the wild.

On to the Breath of the wild.

Yep just finished it tonight. I never appreciated it enough first time around. It was released just after I had got used to high definition gaming and I just couldn't get over how fuzzy it looked at the time, it felt like a step back over Wind Waker.

But the HD remaster looks absolutely sublime and really shows off the art style. The Zora queen looks absolutely stunning.

So yep all finished and the Master Sword sleeps again for one more night!

I'm desperately trying to finish Twilight Princess HD before I start Breath of the Wild!

I'm currently in the City in the Sky. Have the map, compass and double hookshot...but am a bit stuck and have been playing for hours. I need a break!

The problem is, I know if I start Breath tomorrow, I won't go back to Twilight Princess, so I may not play BotW until I'm done with TPHD...

You still have a bit to do. Not a huge amount. But you wont be starting BotW tomorrow. Maybe over the weekend though.
