Thought it was a good enough finale to one of the more interesting adventure games there have been recently, although there were more than a few holes and rough edges.

The big show stealer by the lighthouse was extraordinary, and a great payoff to the whole series, ending with the series' best acted scene. Like you guys have said I can't believe the choice was that close for so many, and after watching the least popular ending on YouTube I'd feel more a little cheated by the outcome (I mean they just seem to stroll through the wreckage with a bizarre, self satisfying smugness!).

It was also more than a bit strange that everyone at Blackwell showed up for the funeral, I know she attended the school but the series never really made a strong enough case for there being a personal connection between the characters we saw at Blackwell and Chloe, but I suppose it made sense in a teen high school drama kind of way.

I loved most of what came before that, but a lot of it hammered home a feeling of not being in control of events at all, which is something of a shame considering the first couple of episodes maybe hinted at the possibility of a more branching line of situations, and this ended up sitting firmly in the Walking Dead/Wolf Among Us camp of dragging everyone to the same overall conclusions.

I couldn't really understand how in one way ripping the photograph up at the beginning of everything resulted in Max's capture and Jefferson burning up the rest of her photos, and blanking out while Chloe gets shot meant Jefferson got caught (I guess Nathan just broke under police interrogation?). Also infuriating that we had work so strawberry floating hard to convice Chloe of anything when we've flashed back from the strawberry floating future and she knows Max can rewind time!

Loved the dream sequence for the most part, and for something that constantly and clumsily referenced things like Twin Peaks (TWNPKS license plate lol! Oooh note from Dr Jacobi?!) this was the most successful supernatural sequence that evoked that in particular I thought, especially the backwards beginning.

Walk down Chloe Memory Lane was shite and mawkish, and the big scene was good enough alone to not require that kind of heavy handed treatment of the previous episodes.

Despite some of those flaws, I enjoyed the idea that Max trying to fix things was the catalyst for destruction and the scene in the diner with herself. The cause of the storm and degredation of past scenes reminded me, of all things, of the series finale to Star Trek: TNG, and maybe it would have been cool if all the different alternate realities or endings required some kind of interaction within each other in a similar way to that.

One of my Games of the Year in that I haven't played many games this year and it was pretty good.

EDIT - That blue jay in the garage is dead in all realities, isn't it...

Was there any pay-off for watering the plant? I killed mine on day two.

I think you get a trophy if you can keep it alive for so long.

Finished it today.

I have to say that though it had some neat elements, looked and sounded gorgeous and had genuine heart. It was also pretty well observed as a human drama, with a great eye for environmental detail and atmoshpere. But I can't say that overall I'm a fan.

I found most of each episode just enough on the slow side to annoy, with even apparently tense or urgent situations punctured by long streams of unconvincing dialogue if you decided to talk to someone. The voice acting was on point, but I felt the script really let it down - should have been shorter and less hyper-anxious to shoe-horn in jarring 'youth' phrases at every juncture. Bit of a trudge getting through at times, i thought.

The time travelling was a decent enough plot device, but a pretty naff game mechanic, with it only working in some circumstances and in certain ways that felt a little random and contrived.

And that Episode 5 Dream Sequence I thought was incredibly hackneyed and useless, with a terrible stealth section. I was relieved to get back to normality.

It had some great elements, and I think it felt like a 'sincere' work on behalf of Don'tNod, but i found it a bit of chore. Not trolling, just expressing. I also took the Save Chloe ending, and found it a little underdeveloped compared to The Proper Ending, but also probably a bit more realistically done. I mean why did all of the high school suddenly care about Chloe? Photo montage was pretty sad, mind.

So, this is getting a limited edition boxed version

Pre-ordered. Like, instantly, just now. I downloaded the game for free on my first playthrough so this, especially with a director's commentary and art book for 20 snoops, was sort of a no brainer.

My interview with the game's directors, who reveal there's basically no chance Max or Chloe would return

I am assuming it's going to turn out that David had good intentions all along, but it was still funny seeing him being interrogated and ganged up on by the three ladies.

I thought the scene the night before ended in a really dumb fashion. I mean they'd behaved stealthily and given the guards the slip, but then got in the truck and left the parking lot making as much noise as possible.

Yeah it's pretty heavy. I loved all of the series, but that's the bit that'll stick with me the longest.

At first I didn't take it seriously; I expected for her to walk away from the scene learning that while she couldn't effect the far flung past in any meaningful way, she could recall new/forgotten details which she could put to use in the present. Basically, I just treated it like a segment I could relax to. To then see her efforts bear fruit left me shocked but happy. Just a shame the elation lasted all of a few moments due to the couple painful blows to the gut which followed.

I enjoyed that game but I think the main plot thing was a bit cliched. All the stuff with the dark room had me groaning.

On the whole I'm okay with clichés, so long as there are other hooks to make up for 'em.

A small spoiler about the last chapter.

It shifts tone into some really weird places.

Final chapter spoilers.

Well, I know I never want to experience that opening again. Knowing people exist in those situations is bad enough, don't want to ever find myself playing in one.

Was *actually* relieved to see David. :toot: :toot: :toot:

The game feels so damn slow. The non-linear nature of it is both a blessing and a curse.
