Finale spoilers:
So I chose to sacrifice Chloe. Definitely seems the better option out of the two. One for the many. It was good but it started to get real wanky at one point near the end. Thankfully it was reigned in in time.

Oh strawberry float, didn't realise this was out!

The first four were fantastic and this has been shaping up to be my favourite game of the year, in a very strong year for games. Eek!

It was a satisfying conclusion, but it was probably the weakest episode of the lot.

Each episode seemed to centre one big idea the team had, while the finale had a more scattershot approach of chucking in everything from the cutting room floor. That dream sequence was more than a little annoying, and the double dip on the "tied-up" scenario was pretty contrived. It was obvious that they had an idea for this super-happy conclusion, but had better ideas for the real ending, so they shoehorned in a way for the player to see it, then be unable to conclude the story that way. Jefferson burning the photos was all just terribly convenient, and his motivations for doing so were sketchy. And I'm not entirely sure how an informed Max suddenly gets captured because she ripped up the photo. And why David just strawberry floats about for the whole week before taking Jefferson down, when he doesn't in the timeline where you don't rip up the picture.

Anyway, I sacrificed Chloe. Seemed like a really easy choice. If sacrificing the town had been labelled as something else (like "save Chloe") I might have had a harder decision, but that made it pretty black and white.

I ended up

saving a person. I feel it may not be correct, but I was finding the question really hard to pick so I just... um... hit X & B at same time and it just went "save a person". The ending doesn't feel... great, but I'll stick with my choice.

It is pretty weak finale/episode...despite that though, Life Is Strange is still one of best games I've played this year. Reddit is very much angry about the episode, though. Although not bad as Mass Effect 3 ending - in fact, most discussions there are really... calm, which is nice to see.

Yeah, bit disappointed that everything boils down to a Chloe or Not scenario... Would've been better if all the various little choices you'd made could somehow work together if you did everything right into a proper happy ending. Still, everything else about the whole thing was amazing.

The bit after Chloe dies and it goes through all the photos changing was brutal

6% didn't show Warren any affection

Has anyone been through again and done the Sacrifice Arcadia Bay ending? Kind of thought it would just be "everyone dies lol" so killing Chloe was the better option. Dat kiss :(

That's the thing with it. There is a clear right choice. The other one is just so selfish that it isn't a realistic choice.

I went for the selfish choice :datass:

I actually thought that going back in time again would kill max as the nose bleeds had been getting worse. And I didn't buy the whole 'making changes caused a tornado' story.

Holy gooseberry fool, just got to what I assume is the final choice. strawberry float you Dontnod.

EDIT: And done.

Welp I went the opposite way. I knew the narrative really demanded the none selfish choice but strawberry float it I'd seen Chloe die enough already. Still, I did feel I made the "wrong" choice.

EDIT 2: Just watched the unselfish ending and yep... definitely the true ending that one. Instead of one cutscene there's a whole narrative arc. If you're going to give the option of two endings at least flesh each out as much as the other. I mean would it have been so hard to show Chloe and Max surveying the survivors, helping out with the cleanup, instead of vamosing the strawberry float out of town?

Still, I really enjoyed it. Gameplay wise it was probably the weakest of the lot and splitting up Chloe and Max did rob it of the best chemistry in the series but they really nailed the ending itself. There was nothing to rival the quiet contentment of the sleepover or the horror of the wheelchair surprise but it worked. I was worried they'd try and explain Max's powers, or brush away the tornado as a dream but nope, they stuck to their guns and it worked out. And was I the only one who liked the dream sequence? The alt-reality classroom was seriously creepy and the dioramas of key moments really helped make the last choice that much harder. Plus, everyone loves a Donnie Darko tribute.

Definitely one of my favourite games of the last few years. Also, is it me or is this year turning out to be one of the best ever for games? I'm thinking 2007 levels of good.

1x05- I'm surprised the percentages are so close as that final choice isn't really a choice is it? Let your girlfriend die or murder an entire town. Now I really like Chloe but I don't think it would be true to Max's character for Max to choose her over everyone.

Having watched the Save Arcadia ending on youtube, it's not even a satisfying ending.

Though in the real ending- why is Victoria of all people at Chloe's funeral? Did she and Chloe really hook up at some point? :datass:

I've been thinking about the endings all day, and the more I think the more annoyed I am... There's clearly only one real ending and I chose the wrong one. Bit of an anticlimax really. Like I say, if you're going to do a dual ending at least make both of then acceptable.

Agree with all that, apart from that I made the other choice, which I felt the game had been leading towards.

It essentially highlights how Max's choices haven't been entirely altruistic - rather, there was always an element of selfishness behind it. And that's partly what makes the final choice interesting, because you're shown all these moments you spent with Chloe and that makes it all the harder to do the 'right' thing, even when she's telling you to do it. I do think the other ending should have been fleshed out a little more, but I think it makes sense in light of the game's attempts to make you feel guilty for sacrificing Arcadia Bay.

Despite its flaws, one of my favourite games of 2015.

That was one of the most interesting points of the final chapter I think...

Max's confrontation with what I took to be her super-ego in the Two Whales. I hadn't really considered the selfishness of her actions, as I'd been making them with an eye to genuinely doing what I believed was right, but there's definitely wiggle room to imply Max was relying on her underlying insecurities to drive her choices.

I've actually felt really anxious since I finished it, mainly because I made the "wrong" choice. As you say, the story was leading to the other ending and in terms of narrative throughline it was the clear winner but I couldn't do it, and now I feel my playthrough was somewhat moot. I'm probably going to play through that last chapter again in a weird mirror of Max's situation, to change the outcome.

strawberry float, that's a bit meta.

In a year packed with AAA successes I reckon this is the one that'll stick with me. A bit of a shame then that Dontnod's next game appears to be a vampire RPG. Hmm.

Finished. That was exhausting.

Went with the 'right' choice and sacrificed Chloe, although I don't feel great about it. As others mentioned, I'm a little surprised how close the percentages are on this one.

Other episode choices:

David got a scar and didn't kill Jefferson
Saved those I could (trucker, Alyssa, Evan and the fisherman)
Helped Joyce believe in David again - not sure why I did that. Probably goodwill for saving Max. Apparently I'm in the minority on this one.
Told Frank the truth about Rachel.
Hugged Warren. I didn't have an option to kiss him (is that something you get from showing affection earlier in the game?) but I wouldn't have anyway. Pfft.

Mixed feelings about the trippy dream sequence. Wasn't sold on the stealth but at least you could use rewind to just move people away if they caught you. I really enjoyed the creepy alternate dorm though.

Disappointing last episode, a bit thrown together it seems but LIfe has been one of my highlights and has stood out as a unique title for storytelling and characterisation.Would love Dontnod to do something similar again

That's really interesting. Made me think if that's Max's super-ego, and her id has been responsible for most of her decisions, does that make us, the player, her ego - in that usually we're caught between the two?
