Might want to get that checked at the GP.

Cob is what sweet corn comes on, a bread roll is a roll.

I'd only heard the term used in Alan partridge, and I assumed it was a mistake at the time.

Many years ago I was staying with a pal in Coventry and, whilst visiting a cafe, we decided to have some rolls. He told me to ask for a "cob" as that was the local term. I did so... and the girl serving didn't know what I was going on about.

^^^ Actual evidence. Experience of being in Coventry in 1993 confirmed.

I went to Coventry once, way way up the M1.

Coventry was strawberry floating amazing because, the people of Coventry, they had nothing.

They had nothing and their lives were strawberry floated and where they lived was gooseberry fool and the food was awful.

And we spent some time with them, and do you know, the people of Coventry, they had a kind of spiritual dignity about them.

They accepted that they were strawberry floated and they... Oh, they were amazing.

Do you know that the people of Coventry, they've been an inspiration to me.

Whilst I was there I had to keep asking myself, why must the youth fight against themselves?

I've heard cob for round loaves of bread more than a roll.

But yeah, corn on a cob is corn on the cob.

Maybe that's why the nice young lady in the Tesco bakery gave me a funny look when I asked her to get her baps out?

Only on a letters page will you find beards, climate change, smallpox, and Jeremy Corbyn all in one place.

Interest aroused as semi at 69 Cock Lane in Fetcham hits the market

Leatherhead house-hunters will have had their interest aroused when a house with a rather suggestive address hit the market this week.

The charming three-bedroom house at 69 Cock Lane in attractive Fetcham – a semi – is sure to attract interest and puerile jokes in equal measure.

But estate agents Gascoigne-Pees clearly think it's a phallus-y the unusual address will put off prospective buyers, listing it at £449,950.

Something of a theme is starting to emerge on Cock Lane, in Fetcham – with a spate of penis graffiti hitting the street last year in an attempt to draw attention to its potholes.

Spelling out the fallacy joke is weak. Amateur hour at the Surrey Comet.
