Just back from the Opening Ceremony preview. Man alive that was some epic stuff; Boyle really knocked it out of the park. Will pop a none-spoilery type photo up tomorrow morning.

Don't think so, I'm pretty sure last night's was the final dress rehearsal. Anyway, here I am looking all smug about it:

It's a little Glastonbury tribute yeah. Doesn't play a huge part in proceedings but it was nice to see!

EDIT: Actually, I'm not sure. There's a mosh pit you can just see to my left that's a definite Glastonbury tribute but I'm not sure about thing on the left.

LONDON (AP) – More than 100 athletes have been kept out of the London Olympics because of doping suspensions.

World Anti-Doping Agency President John Fahey on Tuesday announced the results of a program designed to test athletes under suspicion before they arrived in London.

In the six months to mid-June, at least 107 athletes drew doping bans, ruling them out of the games. Fahey acknowledged that perhaps not all would have qualified to compete.

"Had that been their ambition, then I am pleased to say that they are not with us in London," Fahey told the International Olympic Committee's annual gathering.

Another announcement came Wednesday, when the IAAF announced the provisional suspension of Moroccan 1,500 meters runner Mariem Alaoui Selsouli. Selsouli became an Olympic medal favorite after timing 3 minutes, 56.15 seconds in Paris - more than four seconds below her previous personal best.

"Selsouli has waived her right to the B (backup sample) analysis, and as a result has now been provisionally suspended from all competition in athletics," the IAAF said in a statement.

If found guilty, the 28-year-old runner faces a lifetime ban for a second doping offense of her career.

Sweeping drug cheats out of the Olympics was achieved by sharing intelligence between WADA, sports federations and London organizers, Fahey said. He promised no letup during the games, which open Friday.

"Doping athletes should know that their chances of avoiding detection are the smallest they have ever been," the WADA leader said.

The IOC plans to conduct more than 5,000 doping tests during the official Olympics period, which began when the athletes' village opened July 16.

The first 300 such tests were all negative, IOC spokesman Mark Adams said Tuesday.

Samples taken at the Olympics are kept for eight years to allow for retesting if new detection methods are developed.

In retests of samples from the 2004 Athens Olympics, the IOC has identified five possible positive results that require further investigation.

Formal cases are unlikely to be opened before the London Olympics close Aug. 12 — leaving less than three weeks before an eight-year statute of limitations expires Aug. 29.

"My guidance is that there won't be an announcement during these games," Adams said.

Not all would have gone to the Olympics but nice to know.

I loved to see a drugs only competition one day.

I'm interested to know how fast a man can run when doped up.

Well judging by this game - there is hope for everyone if this is Spain's youth team. Its like going back in time to a 90s Spain side.

Should have been 2 for Japan. Now it's a red card for Spain.

Would the 100m be faster if the non-medalists being executed? Maybe by celebrities.

My initial reaction was that it probably should've been a Red card. I'm flicking between channels so I didn't see the replay, but the commentator seemed to think another defender was getting back in position.

Spain do seem to be lacking a little something at the moment. That said a lot of people did tip Japan to be a surprise package. Looking forward to Brazil's match though  So many quality players in that Brazil team/squad so they should be pretty entertaining to watch.

I think it was a red, he would have been through on goal and with a teammate up in support.

When's the Brazil game? Didn't see them play us in that friendly last week so would be good to get a proper look at the likes of Hulk, Neymar, Ganso, Oscar, Lucas etc... Jesus their team's so much stronger than ours.
