There's only one trilogy which gets ass-fucked with each release and wasn't even a trilogy when the above was made.

I would consider Star Wars the original trilogy, until George Lucas strawberry float around with it.

At first no but then when I think about it all the other contenders are no longer trilogies or aren't as good as I remember (BTF/Indiana). So I'm going to say yes. The extended versions are as good as.... well.. extended versions get.

LotR is a brilliant film trilogy no doubt but I prefer Star Wars and BttF personally for the simple reason that I find them much more watchable on repeat sittings. I could happily watch Star Wars and BttF again and again, whereas I find I have to leave a long time between repeat viewings of LotR or I just shut off about half an hour into Fellowship.

The poll doesn't make sense, how can LOTR be the best trilogy "but there are better ones."

LOTR, for me, is the most consistently great throughout and therefore the best.

Whereas other films i love such as The Godfather and Alien have a lesser film in the trilogy.

The Matrix Trilogy :shifty:

Okay not really...

As far as the LOTR goes they are great films and clearly a lot of work went into them, but I don't think they are anything spectacular either. In saying that I can't really say or not if I could consider them the best trilogy.

Fantastic films to be sure. But I don't know whether you'd classify them as a true trilogy. For me, films in a trilogy would have to all follow the same story.

The films in Leone's trilogy are all seperate entities. Only link between them being Eastwood's man with no name character. Is he even playing the same character in three films? Lee Van Cleef plays a good guy in For a Few Dollars more and the chief antagonist in The Good the Bad and The Ugly. I remember having this discussion with Banjo or Poncho? on Park's Vengance trilogy. Which seemed to have been classed as a trilogy.

I'd agree they only became a trilogy in retrospect as it's fair to say there's no real continuity between them other than Eastwood's character, however, it's still a series of films and there are three of them.

Let's not get bogged down with semantics. Let's not do that.

As I recall, one of the issues with Leone's Dollars films is that they were all released in some places in the one year, giving the impression of a trilogy. Mind you, I'd say that's what I like about it if we consider it a trilogy, it doesn't play by expected rules and each film flourishes in a unique way. The Vengeance Trilogy works in a similar way.

Yadda yadda what about Three Colours yadda yadda

Matrix and godfather for me.

Some didn't like the last matrix but I did. Lord of the rings is good.

The vengeance triogy: Oldboy, Sympathy for Mr Vengeance and Lady Vengeance

Beverley Hills Cop (ahem...)

I didn't really like the 2nd LOTR and the 2nd Matrix film put me off watching the 3rd.
