Lord Of The Rings - Best Trilogy Of All Time?

Just finished watching the extended editions of the LOTR trilogy on Blu-Ray, and it got me thinking. Did Peter Jackson do the impossible and create the best trilogy of all time?
After watching all three making off's I am going towards damn yes! The amount of work which went into creating all three films was nothing short of epic.
He got the characters right (Gollum/Smeagol being played by Andy Serkis my highlight), the music (Howard Shore is a genius and Into The West still makes me cry
), the special effects work (the seige on Minas Tirith and Helms Deep) and the costume design, all these came together to make a masterpiece.
I can't think of any other director to take on The Hobbit. Peter Jackson and Weta Digital/Workshop deserved every oscar they won.
Do you agree?

Possibly, but only because very few if any other stories are explicitly based on existing trilogies.

I'd say that's cheating. If a film franchise has more than 3 films then it should no longer be considered a trilogy.
The answer is clearly Robocop though

Can't believe anyone can consider Back to the Future being anywhere near as good as LOTR, and I love Back to the Future.
