Bumped up a few of the settings there myself as I was getting 90-100 on the auto config. Also noticed it has supersampling built in. Killed my performance but it's neat that it's there.

Upping the vegetation from "high" to "ultra" seems to make barely any difference to my benchmark results. I seem to get an average of 70fps either way so I guess I'll leave it on "ultra". Think I'm finally happy with the settings now.

I dunno man, sometimes I think it's phrases like,

>>>ULTRA VEGETATION<<<<

...that makes gaming seem geekier than it necessarily should.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

There's some elements of the controls I don't enjoy. There's a mission where you have to do 5 combat executions to the mid tier guys.Quite often they'll be seeing stars I hit Y+B and instead I stun the guy next to him, the guy I was aiming for in the first place wakes up and I hit him again for him to die a normal death. Hate how you drop from climbing too, feels too sticky.

Maybe I just suck.

Cheers

ditch the ingame vsync and put adaptive vsync on through the per-program graphics settings. Should stop it doing that. I swear vsync is the main thing that rarely works as intended.

I think i have a nemesis in the making. Can't remember the name, but he first turned up as the victim of an execution by a higher ranking orc who i was after, but he managed to get away. Then he turns up nearby having a feast, which i disrupt by stealth killing him from above.

Later on i'm going after a warchief who i thought didn't have any bodyguards, and this strawberry floater turns up with a metal mowhawk/eyepatch. I think he got away when i went after the chief as he tried to run away. Might have to track his ass down and put an end to it.

They can do that?

Some of them can. It's not that ridiculous when you consider that you're also incapable of dying.

So my nemesis is a royal banana split. Pretty sure I've killed him about 10 times so far, He's all bandaged up and he bloody hates me.

Into the second zone kind of thing now and I did a well and truly facepalm worthy thing.

Found one of the leaders and there I hatched a little plan, I would turn his bodygaurds against him on the sly, Well I did that and then set a way point for the big guy.
Literally strolled into his base thinking I was Rambo, He appears flanked by the 3 guards.

This is gonna be so easy I say. A snort of derision as he tells me he's going to peel my skin off.
I press the button that turns them against them!

Something is amiss.

No, Stop hitting ME! Hit him, Damn you, Uruks!

I'd only gone and selected the wrong boss hadn't I? Now they're considerably tougher and they say nasty things when I see them now. :(

This game is amazing.

Unless you behead them upon execution then they have a small chance of getting resurrected.

I think even then they can come back - it might be a bug or they really can put their heads back on. Another way to tell is if someone else gets promoted into their position - then they're really gone.

Yeah I've noticed that I've killed captains and they've lay "dead" on the floor without getting replaced...guess they'll show up again later at some point all hacked up and full of vengeance

I ended up with FOUR captains after me... in a stronghold! :slol:

I managed to off one but ended up having to make a tactical withdrawal while kiting one of the the captains. I managed to get far enough away from the stronghold so that the alarm had no affect on the fight, but still managed to die thanks to low health brought about by leaving the retreat too late.

That's the last time I go to help some filthy slaves :x

[iup=3583255]Albear[/iup] wrote:I have a strange issue with this game on my PC.

I have a fairly good GPU (780TI) and I can happily play this game at 1080p, with everything on Ultra bar the 4k Texture pack.

It all runs along lovely at 60FPS, but at certain sections of the game, the Frame rate drops to 30FPS, and then stays there till I leave the area.

The Batman games did the same thing, with certain rooms causing the Frame rate to drop to 30, and then go back up again after I left the room.

It doesn't slowly degrade, or ever go below 30 FPS, it's almost as if the game has locked these area's to 30FPS.

Does anyone have any idea's what could be causing this or experience similar? Is this just normal behaviour when a system struggles to keep at 60FPS?

Other than that, this game is absolutely brilliant.

Triple buffering is supposed to fix this, however some games like the Arkham games you mention are actually configured to do this. With those games you had to tweak an .ini file to stop it happening, or simply switch to adaptive vsync as was suggested, but that of course results in tearing.

From my experience with pretty much every PC game it's best to always leave in-game v-sync options off then force them on in the GPU driver settings. Also running Rivatuner statistics to limit the framerate to whatever you desire can make the framerate far more consistent, even if the desired framerate is your monitors refresh rate and therefore vsync would automatically limit it to that, it still helps (believe it or not) on many PC games, and also usually completely eradicates frame-pacing problems that can give the impression of a lower unstable framerate.

I got hella-mad at this game last night - to lure out one of the warchiefs I had to grab one of his underlings for 20 seconds to draw him out, but he was surrounded by orcs in the middle of a base. Every time I got up to him, someone would either ring the alarm causing a never-ending stream of orcs, or I'd kill the guy by mistake. After an hour or so I got wicked salty and ragequit. Quickly popped on this morning, did it no problem. :fp:

The followup warchief was a bit tougher, he was immune to melee damage so I had to combat drain orcs to get arrows to shoot him, while he shot at me and some chucklefuck sounded the alarm. That was pretty tense.

As a finale, I found my nemesis kicking about, but he was weak to stealth attacks, so ran up behind him and snapped his neck. In a way I hope he comes back.

That first one sounds familiar :slol: One of my fuck-ups with him involved clearing *all* the surrounding uruks only for the target to get set upon by a Caragor! I must have started that mission over, like, five or six times before finding a winning formula. In the end I just crossed over to where they were, took the guards out using attract kills and range and hide tactics.

Some of the higher level uruk captains in the second area seem quite tough. One of 'em doesn't even give you a last chance QT! You're on your knees expecting the quick time event only it doesn't appear and you end up lopped in half! I cheaped his arse on the return fight, though.

Regarding strongholds and alarms: you don't have to fight targets in there. They'll follow you out and fight you in the open. Sometimes those already alerted will follow but at least you're not having to also deal with new sets of uruks every time the alarm goes off.

Now I remember, the second warchief was called "...the tactician", but when we met he just stood there giggling, staring and clicking his tongue. I guess he was really good at drawing diagrams or something, as I think "...the utter moron" would be a better nickname.

I had one called flesh-picker and he didn't speak either. Snapped his teeth at me, licked his lips and then chattered his teeth!

One of the best things about the game: the chanting of the Warchief's name when they make an appearance.

OOLAG!! OOLAG!! OOLAG!!
