I bought this today and played for an hour or so, and it seems to have the same problem as the batman games that you can just keep double jumping over the enemies and you 're pretty much invincible. Was stuck with about 20 grunts and a... one who had a name, so I guess he was meant to be tougher, but still not really bad. I enjoy it, but I feel like I'm cheating it's so easy so far. Hopefully it'll get harder.

Reinstalled this after getting the dlc on sale (mainly for the trials).

It's so weird how there's a skin of the female character but all your dialogue stays the same, and every ork still refers to "him"

I've decided to give this another crack having not really got on with it the first time around. I think my problems with it were twofold, the complexity of the control scheme (just too many button combinations) and no real direction once the tutorial finished. Any tips on what to concentrate on when first dropped into the game?

The combat is incredibly simple when you slow yourself down. Don't just mash the attack button, count your presses and then put a double jump over the enemy in and then keep counting. So count 1,2,3,4 double jump over that enemy 1,2,3,4 finishing move

Double jumping is key. Learn the upgrades, some become essential, especially the specials where you can press both the sticks down to have unlimited instant kills for a while and the combat take down thing (been a little while since I played it so can't remember the names). I found having runes that give you health for kills helped a lot to, I remember specifically having one for headshots and would save my arrows for when I was struggling, double jumping to the edge of the battle and knock off 4 or 5 quickly in slow mo which would keep my combo going, give me full health and let me do a combat finisher due to my multiplier.

I traded this in (amongst others) when I got Witcher 3, but I do miss it still. I didn't even get to the second area so probably only completed about 20% of the game, but it was tsill really enjoyable nonetheless. Hope to see the nemesis system used again as that was a really innovative feature.

I'm very close to the end of this but best never seem to get round to getting back into it. It's been one of those games I've played for a couple of days and just put down; the combat is excellent but the lack of a decent story and a pretty uninteresting world just mean I lose interest. The nemesis system is massively overrated, I don't think it adds anything.

This is a 7 or 8 out of 10 game that stood out in a mediocre year.

I thought the nemesis system was a interesting addition, but it wasn't something which I thought was so compelling an element that I would recommend the game to someone just so they could experience it. In that sense, it was lost on me. However, I do think its inclusion was important given how strawberry floating rare new gameplay ideas are in games, and so I hope we see it improved upon in the future, be that in SoM II or other games.

SoM was an odd game. It was a terrible Tolkien game, way too many liberties taken with the mythology for a purist like me to approve.

But it was a solid game and a lot of fun to play. It did seem too short and there was not enough variety in areas (although being set in Mordor probably explains that!). The nemesis system was ok, it needs work if included in a sequel but it wasn't a bad aspect of the game.

I look forward to a sequel but hope they move it out of Mordor and give us a big variety of environments to chop orcs up in.

The nemesis mode really helped this excel in a time when there was nothing really good in the near future. Would love to see what they do with this for a sequel.
