Finished this before Christmas, I think it's my favourite Switch game so far. Everything about it suits my play style such as the linear level structure which allows me to fully explore without feeling frustrated. I especially like the animated cut scenes. The amount of personality squeezed into Luigi is far above any other Nintendo games really, they way he reacts to anything is charming such as his big hug with Mario at the end. If Super Mario Odyssey had been more character driven like this I would have enjoyed a whole lot more.

Just started this today. Am loving it so far. I have played the first two games also but this really feels a big step above them so far (I’m in a minority who preferred the second game to the original).

Just unlocked Floor 3 and this has been splendid so far. Much more depth to it than the original Luigi's Mansion which I also adored. Can't wait to crack on a bit more later!

I've reached Floor 8 and it's brilliant.

I've seen some Easter Eggs which links to the films.

ET
The Ring
Poltergeist
Godzilla

I'm sure there is more to come. :D

I’ve just finished this. It was very good, but not quite top tier for me. I still don’t think the series has quite managed to deliver on the premise of the original, due to 2’s missions and 3’s very separate floors. I’m still hoping for 4 to be a full Mansionvania.

Also the final boss was actually hard and needed a checkpoint somewhere.

Just got to floor 8, loving this. I’m also finding good use for the currency, as the gems are so hard to find without having a map prompt. Don’t think it suits handheld mode though, everything feels a bit cramped on the small screen (looks pretty though, although I think it’s sub native resolution).

Had no issue with the controls, except for the black light sometimes triggering the plunger shot when I use the l and r buttons simultaneously.

I've seen a couple more of Easter Eggs.

IT
Jurassic Park?

It's brilliant and I'm on Floor 10.

Your first one is a great one.

Not sure there’s a specific reference to your second though.

There is a balloon in the sewer (in the B2 Floor) and the scene reminds me of IT.

No, I was saying that one was a great one but I wasn’t sure where you thought the Easter eff for your second film was

Oh sorry.

Yeah I wasn't sure about that one as there was a fossil of T-Rex in the museum.

Just done floor 4. First challenging boss really. Loved it though.

I think I might be done with this. Almost at the final boss but I haven't really enjoyed the last few levels and I'm getting fed up with wrestling the controls. They are so bad I'm not sure I could actually recommend this game to anyone. It just about works with the pro controller but the more difficult bits are unplayable in handheld. I fear I will small the thing in two if it doesn't register me pulling in the right direction on the left stick one more time.

Not once where the controls a problem for me in docked or undocked mode as I changed them myself the first time I started the game.

I'm glad you didn't have any problems man but I'm prepared to be a complete dick and pull out the 'objectively bad' card. To be honest I also think the game runs out of steam, floor 14 looked incredible but that must have taken about 15 minutes? The floor before was also short and padded out with the stupid car stuff.

The controls are fine though once you change them in line with the video’s recommendations.

The game’s issue is not defaulting to the best setting but once I changed them I really had no issue at all.

While I had no real problems with the controls (including B2), I also think Kid Icarus Uprising is one of the top ten games of the previous decade so I might not be in a position to judge. Star Fox 0 is genuinely shite though.

I didn't either, although I'm curious to try out the suggested change and see if it feels better. The only flaw in that plan is that I doubt I will ever boot the game up again.
