I don't know, whilst I think done well a Tomb Raider/Uncharted Indy game would be fine I don't really want to see just another clone of them.

They obviously aren't going to do anything like it but the standard bearer for Indy games is still the point and click action of Fate of Atlantis.

Opinions are gonna vary, I guess. I look at that list of games and think that, overall, it's pretty impressive. I'm interested to see what form this new Indy game will take but, whatever that is, it's probably a fair way off.

KK wrote:When was the last proper Indiana Jones game, 2003? The one they showed on PS3/360 looked like it could be good but it was unfortunately scrapped. It is rather surprising though that there hasn't been more Indiana Jones games considering the concept is basically 'Take Lara Croft or Nathan Drake out, and you put Indiana Jones in'. Which was exactly what they did with The Emperor's Tomb and it turned out much better than that year's Tomb Raider.

With the games you can keep the magic alive, something an aging Harrison Ford definitely can't do with the films. Dread to think how disappointing number 5 is going to be...

There was one for the Wii, Staff of Kings but I have no idea how good it was.

There are definitely people with worse resumes out there who keep getting to make games so yeah it could definitely be worse!

I'm definitely still excited by the prospect of a MachineGames Indy title, I just hope we don't have too long to wait before we find out some real details!

Stealth is great so that's a win. Indy is a character that aligns well with it as a concept.

Very exciting news, Machine Games are great devs and do tell some great stories. Long way off yet but with this and Bond, looks like we could be getting some decent license games.

Howard's problem is that he hasn't directed an original game since 2005. Every game since Oblivion has been that game with bits added.

Todd now is functionally the exec who consistently forces unfinished products into publication; with everything he touches this is a very big concern. To my knowledge he actually creatively contributed significantly less from oblivion or morrowind onward.

This is going to be cross platform but it's kinda odd that Xbox twitter (official, phil, major) are all talking about it but Sony aren't. I guess from Sony's point of view they don't actually know if it will come to PS5. (it most definitely will).

"I am a giant Indiana Jones fan. It can be brought to video games in a unique way," Howard tells me. But he refuses to go into the details, only offering, "The game is obviously: you're exploring stuff. It's about him. So if you're playing the game, how do you feel that you are indeed playing versus just watching?"

Howard would talk more about Indiana Jones—I can tell he really wants to—but he's not allowed. Instead, as I exit his office, he flashes that smile.

"We'll talk next year."
