Another one that skips the Switch entirely.

Why?

When the first tweet came out I was only expecting remasters of 2 and 3 - both of which I love, although 3 was technically quite glitchy. I'm strawberry floating overjoyed to see the entire trilogy is being remastered, especially the first one (more of a remake judging by the screenshots) which I've not had a chance to play.

I've only ever played Mafia II, which I enjoyed a lot (mostly because of the music, and the opening half hour was fantastically atmospheric) but never found the time for 3 (despite it being on my PS4 via PS Plus). Mafia 1 I think was overshadowed by GTA 3, Vice City and The Getaway at the time. Much like Max Payne, I don't think it ran very well on PS2 either and was best played on PC.

Mafia is one of my favourite games. I had it on PC and the plot and atmosphere was brilliant.
Mafia II was decent, if a bit forgettable (except for one moment, which was came out of nowhere and left me speechless  ).
I haven't played Mafia III - wasn't very well received from what I saw, and the setting is quite different to what I like about the original two.

Not really interested in this, as it's just a remaster, but might be good for others to get involved with the series.

They’re... remastering a current-gen game?

(Love all three, btw.)

Well, Mafia III could certainly do with some polish regardless but it does make me wonder if it's worth going for the whole package or to buy Mafia 1 and 2 separately. Oh hell, I'll probably go all in regardless.

More like a historical GTA, but focused on the main story.

Shame we can’t buy the trilogy package now, and get access to each as they release them.

Exactly. It's not even really a sandbox as the city only really serves as a backdrop, enriching the atmosphere by letting you just exist in a specific era.

The first time I played Mafia 2, I honestly stuck to all the rules of the road when not in a mission. Waiting at red lights, giving way, etc. It's just gets its hooks into me.

I never finished 3 as it was far too heavy on collectibles and felt like a different style of game but I'd be willing to try it again.

It'd be like putting GTAIV on Game Boy?

Weren’t there news of Mafia 2 or 3 being rated for Switch in Asian countries? I’m gonna have to google but I remember it being reported.

Probably come along eventually. As always. And it’ll be an empty cart with downloads needed

Uh, OK? BioShock and Borderlands are being ported from current gen so I don't know what makes this an impossibility.

What type of games are these? My wife loves gangster stuff and loved GTA/LA noire, so I may get this for her.

It's somewhere between both of those games so I'd say she'd like this. Mafia is set in the 30s (I think), 2 is in the 50s and 3 is in the 60/70s so they all have a unique flavour and bucket loads of atmosphere.

Walking down the snow covered streets with Christmas music playing in Mafia 2 remains one of the greatest moments in gaming for me.
