Remember when Ubisoft announced Watch Dogs in 2012 but the PS4/XB1 hadn't been announced yet so they couldn't say what platforms it was on or explain how it looked so good? Anyway here's Mario+Rabbids Sparks of Hope

I get the sentiment but Watchdogs "looked so good" because they'd doctored the initial footage to hell and back. When it actually released it looked like ass by comparison

It looked better and the camera was over the shoulder rather than the more restrictive angles of the first.

It looked better but nothing that screamed an upgraded Switch to my eyes? More like 3 more years working with the hardware? I could well be wrong but the now deleted tweet seemed to hint strongly it was Switch Pro footage, slightly odd it was deleted so time will tell.

Yeah but the shift of camera looked pretty big to me and would require a lot more work to keep it looking as good as it did. Things like draw distances being a bigger factor.

This would tie in with my belief that the Switch Pro won't be that much of an upgrade - think 3DS to New 3DS - and that some people have quite high expectations that Nintendo just won't match.

Yeah the camera has changed a lot, without watching back to back gameplay of each game I can’t really comment on the draw distance. If it is running on an upgraded Switch I don’t think it’ll be as powerful as a lot of people are hoping it’ll be as while the footage looked good (even pre alpha), it didn’t look jaw dropping or anything :shifty: Still looks great though!

This is what I’m thinking too, although on the other hand would an ever slightly more powerful Switch really extend the life of the console much more as they’ll be hoping? The New 3DS didn’t really feel like it extended the consoles lifespan much.

I know it's a bit off topic, but I'm not even sure there's much point in a Switch Pro right now.

The original has been out for over 5 years and still sells like ... beans.

Give it a couple more years, and they're surely thinking about Switch 2?

Anyhow, I took stock of all the games I have to play across various systems and concluded I didn't need to buy anything else for years. I will make an exception for this, assuming it reviews anything like the first. The first was remarkable given that it was a full, complete strategy game, but packed with humour and Nintendo references. It's one of those rare third party games which out Nintendos Nintendo. Like F Zero GX

It's been out for just over 4 years not 5. Releasing a Pro will allow them to extend the life of the Switch by a few years while selling new consoles to people who are already Switch owners.

If it is going to be a substantial upgrade, I don't think we'll see a proper new console from Nintendo before 2025.

Oh yeah, you're right it's 4. I'm in two minds as to whether I'd get a Pro, if it's basically the same games but a bit nicer on the eye.

But hey, if people want it fair enough. I'm happy enough with my original version, given that most of the best games are Indies or have a graphics style that makes draw distances etc irrelevant.

I also have no idea what form the next console might take. A Switch 2, or something completely different yet again? They're the most impossible company to predict, joyously so

The best Zelda experience will be on the super switch, therefore I will buy a super switch.

They’ll release a one off patch for Switch Pro users so the frame rate is smooth in Link’s Awakening :toot:

Missed out on the first but I'm keen to really try it now because this looks delightful, bar the rabbids

I went in not expecting to like the Rabbids element, but actually found them pretty funny

Yeah, I was worried they would grow thin very quickly, but I still enjoyed them even by the end of the DLC

I'll probably end up playing this before the DK DLC for the first game

Genuinely the rabbids humour just works in the first game. Like you and most people I think I didn't like them and had reservations going in, but they really nailed it. Don't let the rabbids put you off!

There's a reason I continue to recommend the first game. Normally, people are a little on the fence because of the Rabbids; but they end up becoming part of the charm. I don't think there's anyone I've recommended the first game to on here that didn't end up loving it.

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

Stolen from ResetEra:

Italian website multiplayer.it interviewed Davide Soliani and Cristina Nava from Ubisoft Milan (credits to Vincenzo Lettera for the Interview), of course they couldn't disclose everything about the game but they still dropped some very insightful information:
-The team composition doesn't have any limits this time around, you can go all rabbids or all mushroom kingdom if you so chose (this was said to be one of multiple fan demands/suggestions the team took very seriously).
-The player seemingly has no limit of movement within the movement range.
-The development team and general scope of the project as stated previously has grown considerably, the previous game was handled by Ubisoft Milan and Paris with a team of just over 100 devs, this time around other Ubisoft subsidiaries are involved and the team is three times as big.
-Free camera.
-The exploration element is less linear, but the game isn't Open World.
