I’m currently going through the Donkey Kong Adventure DLC on the first one, hopefully the DLC keeps up the same quality in this sequel

For me it never did. I thought it was very polished and accessible (until I genuinely got lost and had to abandon the game), but always felt a few rungs below some of the best in the genre.

The fact that the first game ended up being so cheap so frequently means I don't think I will be paying full price for this unless it proves to be radically different (and innovative) when compared to its predecessor.

World 3 is the best world and most memorable boss

The World 3 boss is definitely the highlight of the game :datass:

See, I loved the game but I have never played a similar game in the genre. I did however pick up X-Com 2 in the sale recently and have it in my backlog pile, maybe I should get round to it.

I always thought the movement mechanics (boosting off teammates and jumping off enemies) set the game apart from the likes of xcom and worked well both thematically (Mario is about jumping!) and mechanically.

I think one fair complaint would be the single player campaign could be a little easy if you powered up properly.

The Ultimate Challenges were much more of a workout though!

Looks like actual Mario enemies like Goomba's and Bob-Omb's are going to be part of this as well, also, last screen shot, is that the Furry Mario power up being used by the big Rabbid?

It looks good, but I'm not sure about the free movement and placed your position before the enemies make their moves.

I'm sure it will reveal more details tomorrow.

It does feel like too much freedom but at the same time, I'm glad they've gone for what will be quite a major shake up of the combat.

Yeah, Im not a fan of getting rid of the grid system. For me, it made certain aspects feel like a puzzle game, which I think worked well. Open minded about it though.

Looks like a good expansion on the first game which was a really nice surprise when it came out. Will get it this year, may even keep it for Christmas as it seems like a nice chilled game for days off.

Wish my image sig would work

It should make a nice Christmas game especially if it had a strong soundtrack again

Anyone tuning in for the showcase today? I’ll check it out after and read up on the main points but I’m keen to hear more on how they have changed up the gameplay.

Just looks brilliant. One of the best looking games on Switch and seems they've gone much bigger on the exploration side. Change of camera angles with richer, denser worlds and side quests. Can't wait.
