Annoying seeing people declare that all the Mario sports games have been lazy for ages now, World Tour on the 3ds was superb (and huge).

Yeah this is a shame but doesn't sound good enough for me to drop 50 snoops on.

There looks more to it than I expected after Aces though.

It wasn't even 00:whenever for me. Not even a minute had passed before it gave me access, and I spent an hour taking a lonely session around the rookie course learning the controls before going for some speed golf and coming last. Definitely a fun time. I'll be playing more of this. In fact... we'll see. Either this or GTA on GRcade's Twitch channel if I get on tonight.

Who the strawberry float is the story in the RPG mode designed for? It's so bad.

You think it was for kids with how simple it is but there's a massively unnecessary amount of reading, and none of it is at all exciting.

Oh yeah let's have all of these cute characters and then have them stand around talking about golf just like a bunch of old men would, wtf

Thing I'm not a fan of so far is I just want to play normal golf, I don't want to chase my ball every time.

I bought this mostly for the adventure mode, hoping it would give me a nostalgia kick from the GBC version. From what I've read it doesn't seem too promising! But I'll still go into it with an open mind and hopefully I'll get some enjoyment out of it! :slol:

It's fine for what it is, but it's just classic "We're Nintendo so we don't have to try"

It feels like it was made in Dreams or something (the adventure mode specifically)

And @Qiks I actually really like chasing the ball :slol: it adds a lot of variance to what would otherwise be very standard rounds of golf. Otherwise you're kind of just watching the AI play. Plus the drafting mechanic is fun :D

Certainly looks like a filler game to tied gamers over for a while, I honestly wasn't big fan of Aces.
But I do like Golf and if I can find it for a decent price, I'll give it a go.

I’m so disappointed the reviews indicate that this isn’t the game I was hoping for (a well featured single player game). It was one of the games I was most looking forward to this year on Switch. I suppose there was always a strong potential after Aces that it was going to be more of a multiplayer affair.

I didn't buy this game myself but a fair proportion of opinions do appear to indicate that perhaps it is lacking a little in terms of content and polish. Even so, there is a hope that, as with Tennis Aces, the somewhat bare initial release will be enhanced over time.

I’ve played the game for about 3 hours and think it’s fine.

With Nintendo having learned their lesson with Mario Tennis Wii U [upgraded Mario Tennis Switch] and the recent online update for Mario Party Switch to make it playable online [which they didn’t need to do] I’m sure the negative aspects will get updates in future DLC and playing golf in New Donk City will be great, or I’m hoping but I’m thoroughly enjoying it.

One thing that does grate though is the repetitive noise voiceovers

The single player seems pretty meaty so far, it's just that in terms of production quality it's really low effort (to clarify, the gameplay itself feels high quality, I'm just talking about the story mode)

You walk through a village of generic Mario enemies, with absolutely zero world building and talk to a character to start the next mission.

Like imagine if Pokémon Sword and Shield took place in a single town. Now instead of any kind of believable world you just swap out all the human models for mario enemies and act like they're human.

The gameplay itself is good, the set dressing is just bottom of the barrel stuff. I know it's a Mario game but like, still, if you're gonna try and shoe horn in a story and force people to read a bunch of terrible dialogue at least put some strawberry floating effort in

I'm really struggling with the Cross Country exam, because for the life of me I can't work out how to get to the highest hole. I did it once by complete luck and I keep wasting too many shots getting up there. How the hell do I get up there with the damn ball?

It does seem like Nintendo has gone down the simple route. Which is a shame really. All I want is something like the gamecube Mario Golf.

I think I failed on the same one. The tornadoes at a bit too trial and error.

Massive pain in the ass when you've just spent 10 minutes getting there.
