Played a ton of this in multiplayer last night and I think it’s great fun! Battle and Speed Golf are great in multiplayer, I hope we get various new Battle Golf courses as well.

I don't really get what the flow of battle golf is meant to be

There's so many different holes I didn't end up interacting with other players unless I really tried to.

Did I miss something?

It’s basically a race to see who can pot 3 holes the fastest, we tended to go for the same area and just try to stop the other player getting the hole first. The different hazards that appear like the Bob-Ombs and stuff also help make it a bit more frantic as you ball can end up flying all over the place.

We found it to be a lot of fun but like I say we seemed to stick to the same area of the arena.

Battle Golf definitely varies depending on what's going on. If there's Bob-ombs flying everywhere and random events causing chaos, it's great fun even if you're on the other side of the field. Otherwise, the race to three holes is still fun, but not as fun as it could be. The Ai are absolutely great to be challenging for that reason. They will absolutely hammer you with specials and Bob-ombs at any opportunity they can get. I spent a good half hour just against the AI, where most of the times everyone would be forced together over a fight for the last hole.

Sure, but like, why would you do anything else other than go for your ball? Any time spent not hitting your ball is time someone else is pulling ahead of you. Even if you hit them with something you're still putting yourself at a disadvantage, just seems poorly thought out.

I can see what you mean, I think once the hazards start to appear that makes it more fun as your trying to be quick so as your ball doesn’t get blasted away. I thought you might have been able to effect the other players ball either by hitting it yourself or something else but I don’t think that’s possible.

I guess it’s what you make of it really, maybe overtime they will tinker with it once they start to get feedback.

To me it would make more sense if you had one person putting and one person disrupting on each team.

As it is it's like Mario Kart but you have to choose between driving round the track or going the wrong way to get a weapon

Hopefully they update it so it's not a poorly thought out mess.

I'm a bit confused as to why Mario has such an amazing super shot.

Everyone else's just does the shot and that's it, even characters with exactly the same shot as Mario that just knocks other balls out the way

But for some reason Mario gets a star power up that makes him run fast as well as knock enemies out the way

It just makes him objectively better than characters like Donkey Kong, Bowser or Toad

It sounds like selecting Mario is Funky Mode.

I have to say, overall I fine the game fine... And nothing more sadly, do I think it was worth me paying full price? Not right now no! Maybe if I jump online with others that might help. So far I've only done adventure mode.

Also, cross country golf can piss off! :capnscotty:

Rather than a fun challenge, I've just found it awkward for the sake of being awkward, it's incredibly frustrating and when I finally complete the course, in glad it's over, I don't feel any sense of achievement, I just want to get out of there... Then I found out I have to do a whole tournament on it so I switch it off, I'll have to go back to it another time.

I have to say the more I play, the more I find Golf Story to be superior in absolutely every way!

The Mario sports titles used to be such reliable fun, it's so disappointing that Nintendo have dropped the ball with Tennis and Golf this generation and released such lacklustre offerings.

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

as much as I do like speed and battle golf, I am much preferring to just play good old standard golf the most so far. most of my hours have been spent doing that, only the one eagle so far though. finding eagles hard to come by.

Been playing through Adventure mode so far and got to say it really feels very barebones and lifeless. Just like the minimum amount of effort has gone in.

There's no little touches - e.g. go into the other players bedrooms in the clubhouse and it's just an identikit bedroom - what's the point? Add bits related to that character etc. You may as well not have the option to go in.

Annoyingly, adventure mode was the reason I bought the game! I'll give it a few more days and try playing the other modes. If I don't get on with it I may trade it back in for something else.

Was New Donk City not already in the game? I thought it had been in trailers already

It was in the trailers to demonstrate the DLC coming.

Well support for this ended quick,a new update is being released shortly and it will be the last major update for this

New additions are Wiggler and Shy Guy as playable characters and 2 new modes plus a few balance changes.

https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2021/11/the-last-free-update-for-mario-golf-super-rush-is-now-live-here-are-the-full-patch-notes

What a poor showing, at least Mario Tennis was supported for a year after release.

Last free update. Wonder if they're going to try the paid DLC route.

Also, to be fair, Mario Tennis was more content light at launch than Golf. In fact, Golf is pretty well stocked at this point.

I was disappointed with both Mario Tennis (which I bought but quickly sold on) and Golf (which I cancelled my pre-order for). I felt like they were both released in a fairly bare-bones format; pushed out too early with some polish missing and a "we'll add bits in later" attitude.

I would still like to retry Tennis - recognising all the updates that have been made - but the price has barely dropped since launch.
