I have no idea why character rosters ever decrease. Same with Smash Bros. Once a character is playable, they should be playable in every subsequent installment of the series. This goes for pretty much ever game with a character roster. I just cannot comprehend why developers would ever omit characters. Boggles the mind.

For every character they leave in, that's more work to put it in the game which is no easy task, especially for something like Smash Bros. I personally find too many characters is slightly off putting, in Street Fighter 4 there were so many I never really tried them all, but Killer Instinct I use them all.

Question is, will it play as well as Super Mario Kart?

I hope so because that looks brilliant. Well done Nintendo.

I disagree completely. For example: they dropped Dr. Mario between Melee and Brawl. Dr. Mario is just a clone of Mario. They'd already put Mario into the game - how much more work would it take?

I don't think we have the final roster fully revealed yet, so Boo might be in there somewhere still. Koopa is still in, so I'm good.

Should be going to Adelaide Comicon tomorrow purely to get in line and give this a go. Hopefully it's this new preview build rather than the E3 build.

One interesting thing that I just heard on IGN's Nintendo Voice chat is that the screen no longer fades out if you fall off the track, instead Lakatu catches you and pops you straight back on. Apparently this makes play much quicker.

Another thing they mentioned is that as well as the piranha plant (which gives you a boost when it latches onto something) and the boomerang (opportunity for double hits) there also appears to be a cannon item (from 3D World) and an '8' power up, but they not they aren't sure what they do .

Moo. Moo meadow looks so much better than the Wii version.

The Donut Plains gif just looks incredible, it looks more next-gen than most of the Xbox One games. Not trying to have a dig at Xbox but I'm just massively impressed at the graphical power of the Wii U.

I've been hearing rumours of Yoshi Valley which would be interesting, I'm really hoping they use Mario Kart 64's Block Fort though for the (unseen?) Battle Mode.

I want a DKR style single player, I absolutely love'd that and always hoped Mario Kart would do something similar.

That looks fantastic, watching that comparison video on Moo Moo Meadows shows what a jump Wii to Wii U actually is. My only disappointment is going to be playing 4 player split screen with the kids when it begs to be played in full screen.

Has there been any talk of this being 5 player a la Sega All Stars Transformers Sonic Racing or whatever it's called? I.e. 4 players on the TV and a 5th on the Gamepad?
