I'm intrigued by the next GTA - I wonder if it'll be more focused upon Online modes rather than the campaign.
I certainly hope not

You say that but GTA5 released 9 months before Mario Kart 8 so the wait for the next proper entry has been similar for both!
Exactly. There's not
That much difference both games released and a very significant amount of time for a new entry in either series.
Also arghh
wasn't aware there's going GTA6 announcement in December when I asked. That bit of information automatically makes it a much less interesting question.
But, whether or not we get a GTA 6 trailer in December, I wouldn't bank on a 2024 release (we had a trailer for Metroid Prime 4!) nor take it as a foregone conclusion it will arrive before MK factoring in delays.

Also kind of sucks GTA 6 will be Rockstars only game this gen. I much preferred RDR2, if we're only getting one game, I would have preferred something tonally similar. Ideally we'd get both types of games OR just a RDR or LA Noire type game (story based). RDR2 world was so vast, beautiful and harsh and the game just had this inherent tragedy hanging over it, which I appreciated. You
Could play it like a GTA game....but you shouldn't!
But whilst I prefer Rockstars more grounded output, as we are only getting GTA6 I hope they keep it to a similar vibe to GTA5. GTA 5 was just silly, it's story was just engaging enough and its character entertaining - but it was fun just causing carnage as Trevor. I'm all for story and characters with a little more but I hope GTA6 keeps it more on the satirical side of things and doesn't try to be something inbetween GTA5 and RDR2. The first Watchdog game felt kind of gross for playing like a GTA game but not embracing it's own ridiculousness and the horrible protagonist who committed appalling acts was supposed to be sympathetic. In the same way I wouldn't want to play RDR like a GTA game I wouldn't want to play GTA like a RDR game - I don't want anything too serious nor an honour system.
