Hmm, i'm tempted to pick this up, it looks like regular Monday night games could be a lot of fun, and it certainly seems to have legs. Is this game worth picking up if you have previously sunk a fair bit of time in to the Wii U verison (but did not pick up the DLC)? Are the battle modes good?

It's usually always a close fight for top three.

From what I've heard from other people, the game handles very slightly differently to the Wii U version, which may throw you off a little if you're terribly used to it, but I never owned a Wii U so I can't attest to that.
What I can attest to is that the GRcade races every Monday are pretty fun, and we usually get a pretty big turnout, and plenty of people voice chatting on the Discord. It's what's keeping me playing this game now.

Ted is right on the money! Kart Mondays are one of the highlights of my GRcade membership. Been playing (on U and Switch) since 2014
