So Koji Kondo is the sound director for this! He had a few things to say- http://uk.ign.com/articles/2014/12/08/how-mario-maker-mixes-music-with-level-creation

One of my most anticipated titles of 2015.

I wonder if there'll be a campaign mode like there is in LBP.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

It will be interesting to see whether any of the user-created levels rival those made by Nintendo themselves. Will we be able to easily put our levels up online to test other players?

Also, I'd love for this to be a retail release. I can imagine the box art would be very nice indeed.

I assume that's the point.

If it's not I'm going to be very disappointed.

I know, imagine if it's only for single player and local multiplayer. But after the terrific job Nintendo did with Mario Kart online, it would be daft for them not to include online functions for MM in a big way.

I know what I will be doing - painstakingly recreating my favourite levels from Super Mario World. With a Gario twist.

A "Gario twist"?

I'm pretty sure any uploaded levels would be strenuously moderated.

I think you know what I'm talking about.

Mario Maker looks kinda cool, but I'm not feeling any excitement about the possibility of playing through thousands of duff player creations. It will no doubt be fun to make a level though I think it could be a brief thrill.

But I'm keen to see Gario's creations :datass:.

My kids love stuff like the level editor in Pullblox and programming in Scratch, they also love the Mario universe so they'll go loopy when I score a copy of this baby.

Assuming Amazon come through with my Wii U :dread:

Unless the game forces you to play levels randomly pulled from the cloud, I'm not sure why that'd be a concern. Nintendo wouldn't do download without recommendations or community vote via star rating.

My concern is that we won't be able to search/find Japanese user levels.

I only ever dabbled with LittleBigPlanet but, despite the search options, there seemed to be a lot of junk levels to wade through and it did put me off. There were/are some terrific creations, but it appeared that most levels were made in moments and then just added to the pile. I guess that's the drawback of offerng creative tools.

Perhaps I'm being a bit harsh. I am intrigued to see what could be created in MM.

As someone who still regularly fires up his Snes for Mario run throughs, the thought of a plethora of new classic style levels sounds almost too good to be true. I have little interest in making levels, but playing the best of levels made by others sounds awesome.

...and I'd have more fun making levels than playing 'em. This could turn out well, after all :-).

If the fan-made Newer Super Mario Bros. levels you can get via homebrew on the Wii are anything to go by, there'll be some absolute gems in there. Fingers crossed they'll be easy to find.

I do wonder how the physics will work in this. The trailer seems to imply that they will be using the New SMB style gameplay which will make playing levels using the SMW tile set really weird

They've confirmed that now you get the games original physics depending on what tileset you use.

The real Super Mario World 2 begins here.

Will there be capes and tanooki suits?

Will there be Doki Doki Panic stuff?

Is there an overworld map editor? Hidden exits?

If you can mix and match all this it would be amazing.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.
