How do you read that? It can either be 2 more updates left or 2 more updates left this year and then some in 2023? Hoping it’s the latter.

Nintendo have got some cheek to claim content that was removed prior to release constitutes a free update.

I wouldn't mind too much given the updates are free and the game ends up being how it should have been released, apart from the cart ends up missing all of that content. They should call it early access until all the updates are out and then release it physically (of course that'd never happen but that's how I see it)

I very much doubt it was completed content. It was likely in some half finished state and they've been working on it since the game went gold.

This seems to be a "best of both worlds" approach but for commercial reasons, I don't think Nintendo would want to slap "early access" on a release

Still not addressing the core problem with the game (lack of modes)

They mapped out the next 3 updates and it's just 2 characters, new stadium and gear. I don't think it's getting new game modes sadly.
