I know what you mean, he did feel a bit bland and was outshone in most scenes by Michelle Yeoh, Awkwafina, Tong Leung, Ben Kingsley....

Feels like he may have gotten the part more for the stunt work on his CV rather than charisma

I didn't mind the the fact he wasn't super charismatic, if anything I liked that about his character and the way he portrayed him. This film was all about Shang-chi growing to be the hero that he can be, and I think that's cool.

Yeah, I do get what you're saying, MCU really doesn't need another super, OTT charismatic superhero as it has plenty of them.

Black Panther 8.5/10
Shang-Chi: 8.5/10
Ant-Man 8/10
Spider-Man Homecoming: 8/10
Iron Man: 8/10
Captain America: 8/10
Spider-Man Far From Home: 8/10
Captain Marvel: 8/10
Doctor Strange 8/10
Ant-Man and The Wasp: 8/10
Black Widow: 8/10
Guardians of the Galaxy 2: 7.5/10

I can't believe people rate winter soldier so highly, it wasn't better than captain America imo.

Horses for courses I suppose but I really like Ant Man because it's not as obsessed with setting things up at the other movies. It works well as a standalone story.

Having not seen the trailers I was at first a little disappointed with Shang Chi because I was expecting something a little more 'street level' after that terrific sequence on the bus. However the whole fantasy world part was quite well done if you ignore the glaring plot hole of how the good guys barely managed to get one car through the forest due to the closing gaps but the badguys bring a whole fleet.

Ant-Man is brilliant and one of the most underrated MCU films.

Sequel is meh though.

Shang Chi 6/10

Not sure why, but this really didn't grab me at all. I was thinking it might just be Marvel fatigue, where they seem to just be making the same film over and over again.

But then again, I really enjoyed Black Widow, which you could level the same complaint about.

Overall, I just found it quite boring. I can barely even remember what happened now. If they really want to reboot the MCU after Endgame, they're really going to need a humdinger of a new character to build it around and this one isn't it.

Come in Spiderman, I think you're needed. But you'll need someone to spar against, like Tony Stark vs Captain America.

Also, Ant Man was great.

Trailer is up!

Spoilery thumbnail so stuck it in a box.

Looks awesome!

No other Spider-Men revealed, but definitely saw at least 5 villains (Goblin, Octopus, Electro, Sandman, Lizard and they seem to be leading up to someone at the end). Need to watch it again tomorrow I think!

Actually legit excited for that, but they've blown the load on reveals. I saw the spoiler about Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spidermen being in it and thought that if I'd seen that blind it would have been an awesome surprise, but now seeing that they've got Sandman, Doc Ock, Electro and Green Goblin all seemingly being played by their original actors in the trailers, it's making it too obvious.

Bloody trailers revealing too much.
