Yeah I think there will be a degree of pay off to these events in upcoming MCU movies...

It was good that we know; - The world is built on turtles all the way down; weve met the first turtle and hes got knocked off; now the next turtle is here and the world has changed. But it opens up lots of other questions that wont get answered anytime soon.

Shouldn't we be getting a Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer very soon? Unless they aren't planning on dropping a trailer until very close to release to avoid spoiling surprises

I was expecting one just after Loki but apparently the expectation is now that one is going to drop along with Suicide Squad this week.

Crazy. Presumably because she thinks it harms her box office status?

She claims her payment for the movie was partially based on its box office.

Her salary agreement included a percentage of box office revenue and would have been agreed on the basis of a standard theatrical release. Obviously it had a dual release so it'll come down to the contractual terms around that.

These clauses are very common though and for reference, Warner Bros spent $200m renegotiating these clauses for the films they put straight to streaming services.

Her lawyers reckon it cost her $50m but I reckon that's an estimate at the top end in a non-covid world.

Indeed, she has a point in my opinion. Obviously though it depends on how the contract is written. As you say percentage of box office take is becoming a common agreement for the main stars of films. It usually happens when the star is integral to a film being made.

I believe I last read black widow is believed to have earn't Disney £60m on Disney premier access. So that's quite a significant loss from the box office take that she won't get a cut of.

Black Widow is actually the worst performing MCU at the box office after The Incredible Hulk.

Not the first tine (and certainly won't be the last time) Disney have screwed someone but the fact they let it get it to this stage makes me think they're confident the contract wording is on their side.

Yeah that's my assumption as well.

But obviously going forwards this will be actors will want cuts of streaming releases if they are in the box office window. Also whilst the performance hasn't been great the £60m on premier access is likely worth a much greater spend at the box office as all the income from premier access goes to Disney where's that isn't the case with box office income. Most articles seem to have ignored this important fact.

Doesn't matter that she's already made $20m off it, Scarlett Johansson is clearly in the right to sue Disney, it's just a shame the countless others who have probably been screwed by them don't have the money or influence to do it as well.

Apparently she/her team were worried about a simultaneous Disney+ release way back in 2019 so Disney assured them they'd renegotiate if it came to that. Then of course Disney blanked any emails from her about renegotiating once they decided they actually would release on Disney+.

Disney should have released it in the cinemas summer 2020 and Johansson could have made $2.

The timing of this suggests she'd just got the first royalty payment through.
