Please, Hawkeye is no John McClane.

He's barely fit to be Bill Clay

Watched What If ep 6 last night. I'm kind of torn on it. On the one side, more T'Challa and more Killmonger is a very good thing. Biggest mistake the MCU made was killing off Killmonger and the chance of getting him back in the live action via some kind of variant chicanery would be welcomed. But on the other side, stop killing Tony Stark! They've offed him for the last 4 episodes (assuming he went alongside the rest of the universe in ep 4). Also, there were plot twists in there that were completely at odds with how they'd built characters in the MCU. I really don't see Stark being outwitted by Killmonger. Last thing, that sonic cannon thing was OP'ed to strawberry float.

i believe theres another character being introduced in this who's known for being deaf as well

I actually quite liked the Hawkeye trailer. It looks fun and doesn't seem to be taking itself seriously.

It just looks a bit more of the same. Same reason I couldn't get excited about Black Widow, it just looks like everything we've seen before. Across the board standard superhero narratives have been done to death.

Yeh Echo is in it before she gets her own show. Hawkeye could have lost his hearing from the explosion in Endgame I guess, he was inside the building that got levelled and I seem to remember he had tinnitus from that point.

What If? 1x07- Karen Danvers is the worst. And that was probably the worst episode so far.

Now that they've been going for a while and "What If"? seems to be potentially solidifying it's position as being the most iffy of the shows it seems like a good time to ask: What are people's thoughts in general on the Disney+ MCU shows so far?

It's been a bit of a mixed bag I think, though probably leaning more towards good than bad, but when compared to their curent movie output it feels like we are still in the "wobbly early phase" of things. Wandavision was probably the strongest of the shows for me - it had a clear vision (pun intended ;) ) of what it was doing and executed it well, albeit with a slightly fluffed conclusion. Falcon & TWS had some real high points but also never really seemed to come together as a coherent story, and focused too much on the least interesting aspects of the plot. Loki was good, but suffered with a bit of a pacing issue and of each of the shows so far felt the most "setup for stuff in the wider universe" at the expense of telling a complete story in and of itself. What If? has just been poor for me, the format had huge potential but they just don't seem to have chosen the right approach to run with it.

Ranking:

Wanda > Loki > Falcon > What If?

In all honesty at this point I think I would have preferred to have got more of the Netflix Marvel shows than what we've had from Disney. Certainly I would place Jessica Jones and Daredevil when firing on all cylinders above anything that we've had direct from Marvel so far.

I'd probably say

FaWS > Wandavision> Loki > What If?

I don't take the shows too seriously and so have enjoyed them all.

I'd say: Loki > Wanda > What If > Falcon

It'd be interesting (maybe a What If ;) ) to see what Falcon would have been without the pandemic messing it up.

Comfortably this for me:

Loki > Wanda > Falcon > What If

Loki was brilliant, thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. Loved watching Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson bounce off each other and bar a bit of a dud in the middle found it consistently good throughout. And the ending worked for me.

Wanda was a really fun concept, that lost momentum towards the ending and had a fairly disappointing concept. Overall a good show though.

Falcon & the Winter Soldier was extremely up and down with some great moments and some parts that didn't work at all. If the rumours of the late rewrite and the disruption caused from Covid are true though it's understandable I guess.

I gave up on What If a few episodes in. Dull, uninspired animation and a bit of a waste of a concept.

I'm going Loki > Wanda = What If > Falcon

Loki has been streets ahead of any of the other shows and I enjoyed it as much as any of the top tier movies. Wanda started strong but that last episode CGI slugfest wasn't good. I've enjoyed What If and a couple of them were really very good (T'Challa, Zombies, Strange, Killmonger). Falcon was as ropey in parts as Sam's new suit.

Falcon is definitely the one where it feels potentially harshest to be down on it, given how much the production had to be reworked in the face of the pandemic. But ultimately all we can do is review what we actually got

Let's not ignore that Falcon gave us this:

"What If" is definitely the worst of the 4, the animation is weird and the alternative stories just aren't that interesting.

Loki is my favourite, I felt it starts well and ends well where as Wandavision's first 2 episodes were very boring and just a chore to watch.

Loki
Wandavision
Falcon and the Winter Soldier
What If

F&WS gave me big Winter Soldier/Civil War vibes so that was an instance win in my book. The Cap side of the MU is the most interesting to me
