The Mary Sue element of her instantly being better than Bruce at everything. It’s not the female empowerment that annoys me but the fact Hollywood always takes the easy route of showing it at the expense of the male characters. It’s seemingly quicker and easier to short cut character development by just showing them better than an established male character.
They made Hulk look like a chump to get she hulk over. And what the hell was going on with the jeep? He was trying to stop it and she accelerated and he was sent flying? The hulk who could smash giant flying Alien fish things out of the air was sent flying by a car?
I don't get this.
At no point was she shown to be "better" than Bruce. It was very obvious he was holding back for the majority of the time, as shown by the split second where he got irritated and threw the rock into space. He was teaching and training her, not competing.
She very quickly learned how to control her transformation into the Hulk state. But it's established that the only reason Bruce couldn't do that is because of his mental health issues.
Other than that, what is there to learn? It's not like it takes 10 years of superhero school to learn that you are strong.
I didn’t mean better in strength powers etc. but the way she just casually did everything without breaking a sweat really irritated me.
I’ve watched the mcu but not read comics. I don’t recall it ever stating that banner has mental health issues. And presumed comic knowledge is not good story telling. She adapted so quickly to his training, could run jump etc. I’m pretty sure anyone who underwent such a radical biological change would take longer than a few days to come to terms with (I mean she grows in height that would take time to adjust to just walking!). As far as origin stories go it felt like she got an easy ride relative to the other main mcu hero’s. No adversity doesn’t make for interesting character.
And hulk has definitely been nerfed as time has gone on. That jeep scene was tragic.
The final court scene was almost parody levels of bad (I don’t know the character so maybe cheese is what she is) I mean who the hell was the spandex villain why did they burst in where did they get powers? What was the point it all felt so rushed and cheap just to show she can fight which we already knew from banner scenes.
