Freeman is fine, but it would've been better to play him as an English ex-Shield man or something.

Only bad bits of casting I can think of are Howard and Norton but even then, I don't think the actual casting was poor, more that there were behind-the-scenes issues. Everything else they seem to have managed pretty well.

I watched Hulk recently for the first time and I thought Norton was pretty good. It didn't really feel like an MCU film, not least cos of the Banner change of actor but also the tone and filming style felt very different to me.

I don't understand why he did a welsh accent if he can't do it. It's not like he was originally Welsh and they were being true to the character

I think what made it even worse is that the dialogue seems really muffled as well, sort of like Bane but pretending to be from Cardiff. The whole thing is utter shite, no redeeming features at all.

It's as simple as "arrogant actor thinks he can do it" mixed with "nobody dared tell the arrogant actor how bad it was".

Sheen always strikes me as such a nice guy - I bet he just couldn't bring himself to give Downey the honest truth!

Would love to hear what Michael Sheen's Welsh mates actually said to him when they heard the accent for the first time

Not a huge fan of Dominic Cooper's portrayal of Howard Stark tbh. Always seems a bit cartoonish to me. Much prefer John Slattery's more nuanced performance as the older version.
The lack of visual similarity between these two, in and of itself, has always been a mild irritation to me, as well.
