You'll never be able to convince me that an Eternals film would have been made if Perlmutter hadn't wasted The Inhumans on that terrible ABC show. What could have been.

I don't think that would have stopped Marvel re-doing The Inhumans for MCU if they really wanted.

I dunno man, the Inhumans show was so bad it basically strawberry floated all interest in the Inhumans. I'm with Mori - 100% sure this is the movie that Inhumans was supposed to be.

Maybe you're right, but hardly anyone watched the TV show did they? It's not like Eternals has huge interest in it to build on to start with too.

If you Google The Inhumans, the TV show is the second result.

House Stark reunion show. Hoping they bring in Sean Bean for Eternals II.

Yeah +1 for this being the replacement for Inhumans.

I dunno, maybe it's just they're relatively obscure but I'm not excited for it. I'm sure it'll be fine, but it's not high on my list of anticipated marvel stuff.

Lets see if they can pull off another Guardians with it.

Rumour is that when they saw the rough cut, the Marvel high heid yins basically shat themselves with glee because they think they've got potential Oscars on the cards here. Chloe Zhao winning big this year won't have harmed that too much either.

As someone unfamiliar with both The Inhumans and The Eternals what's the connection between the two?

We can only hope it's that good.

I've yet to be disappointed with the MCU so I'm confident this will be good as well.

The connection is mostly from the fact that they have very similar origins rather than being related IPs. The story they look like they're telling here could've been grafted straight from a draft of what was supposed to be the 2018 Inhumans movie.

They're both races of superpeople who exist because of genetic manipulation and meddle with humanity. The Inhumans have appeared in far more comics than The Eternals and are more recognisable characters. There's no Eternal on the level of Black Bolt for example.

Having no prior knowledge of the Eternals, but liking the look of that trailer, I'm assuming that Angelina Jolie feels that humans have wasted the gifts the Eternals gave us and will decide that she wants to destroy us because we're inherently evil and all that. But the other Eternals will find value in human life and fight to protect us from the genocidal Eternal.

How close am I?

Most people who read comics have little prior knowledge of the Eternals. I can maybe name four Eternals and I have read Eternal comics.

I don't think any of them are the villains.
