No you're right he definitely does say that, not sure what the workaround for this will be or if they just plan to ignore it and hope that nobody notices!

EDIT: here's the line:

Nick Fury wrote:Last year earth had a visitor from another planet who had a grudge match that leveled a small town. We learned that not only are we not alone, but we are hopelessly, hilariously, outgunned.

Nick Fury lies all the time though. Perhaps he just didn't want to mention her.

Tony says as much when he points out that he's "THE Spy" and something like "His secrets have secrets" (Or did I imagine that one.... not sure.).

True, Fury is the king of spouting bullshit.

Like I say I doubt they will have a problem with either waving this away as one of his lies, or simply ignoring it!

Yeah I'm not worried about it.

Looking forward to this one though. Really hope she can pull it off.

When he says “we,” he’s probably referring to the wider government, rather than SHIELD, who know all sorts of gooseberry fool.

Or, you know, Captain Marvel wasn’t on their slate when that line was written. One of the two.

It does seem strange that Captain Marvel would have been around since before Avengers yet somehow Nick Fury never called her despite her being probably the most powerful hero in the MCU alongside Hulk and Thor. I mean, I'm sure there is some explanation as to why she was only called as a last resort but surely they would have already been that desperate as soon as Thanos showed up on Earth.

I mean, I can sort of understand why they were not expecting to lose. After all the Avengers and the Guardians had no end of opportunities to stop Thanos and somehow managed to screw up every single one either due to bad decisions and lack of discipline. That's kind of my major gripe with Infinity. I understand that they wanted it to look like a close call as to who would win but in the end it just made the heroes look like morons who continually fumbled opportunities and made irrational decisions (like Wanda risking half of the whole universe for the sake of one man and Strange just handing over the time stone knowing that it's power basically granted his enemy unlimited attempts at getting the remaining stone).

It's fairly strongly signposted that Strange has seen the only possible outcome where the Avengers win and that involved Tony Stark surviving and Thanos getting all six stones. Wanda didn't risk anything - She destroyed the stone albeit extremely reluctantly but the plan was to buy time to try and save vision, too. That was a call made by all the Avengers. Not just her. When the time came - she did what she had to. Whilst also holding off Thanos. I couldn't fault any of the decisions really except for Star lord allowing his emotions to get the better of him at the point when they had the best chance to beat Thanos. Certainly not Strange's or Wanda's.

I can see why these would be issues for you, personally they weren't because they were consistent with how the characters had been portrayed in previous films. Quill for example has often been someone who has done reckless things when fueled by emotion so it makes sense he'd do what he did considering how much he cares about Gamora.

It's a big part of why I think the characters resonate with so many people, that despite all the powers and abilities they have available, they're mostly pretty flawed people.

Excellent, that's one of the gaps I've been desperate to plug in my MCU watch list!

I Don't understand why quill didn't shoot thanos with the gun rather than hit him in the head with it.

Loved the film, but didn't like that bit at all.

I still don't understand why they didn't use the eagles to take down Thanos.

I can't stand Captain Marvel in the comics, she is essentially an ass who has backed every wrong hero idea going, been inserted into every team possible in someone's hope that they can force her to become more famous but then they've also used her in some stupid and disturbing ways like her essentially being raped then giving birth to her own rapist and then running off with this person and taking him as her lover...... Personally I'd just kill her as a character and introduce a new less dragged through the mud female lead. Still I guess the best bet is to try and just treat Marvel films Carol Dancers as a different universe Captain Marvel. I certainly think less comic book aware fans will enjoy things more as they'll take less baggage into the film.

Yeah I saw that the story was posted 6 hours ago on the BBC and thought it seemed odd no-one else had posted about it.

Is it really that shocking though? It doesn't really spoil anything regarding the actual story of Part 2...

He could easily 'retire' as Capt given the circumstances and pass it onto Bucky or Sam rather than outright die for example.

There's no spoiler in that for me - actor finishes filming the culmination to almost ten years of linked, story-telling movies and tweets about how emotional it was/thanks to the cast and crew. We don't really know anything beyond that!
