Fair enough. That first weekend is 79.6% of Marvel's Avengers' entire gross, 86% of Age of Ultron's entire gross and 59% of Infinity War's entire gross. That's absolutely insane.

Only seven films ever released have grossed more in their entire runs than Endgame has in its first week, and two of them are Avengers movies themselves.

If anything is going to beat Avatar then it’s this movie.

It’s insane, I’ve never seen anything like it. Scott Mendelson at Forbes magazine is quite learned about box office projections and he seems to think it’s got a shot. $2.7 billion is a big target though!

I still haven't had a chance to see it as every cinema is still pretty much fully booked for the foreseeable future.

It's got legs this one.

That’s more of a religious experience than a movie, but you are right that it will take at least $300billion at the box office.

So I've been to see it three times now and it definitely stands up to multiple viewings.

No Endgame spoilers below, just "where do the take the franchise next" talk, but just incase...

I am starting to wonder about where they go from here. For the first time since probably before Age of Ultron I've not got a clue what's coming (Beyond the obvious sequels) and it's really interesting. Are we going to see them begin to lay the seeds for the next big Arc, even if they are extremely subtle, or are we going to get a phase of fallout movies, dealing with the aftermath of Endgame before they start anything?

Personally I could go a phase of lower key movies dealing with how it all moves on. Gives them time to really think about what the next big arc should be and how they go about executing it. Then give me Fantastic Four with Doom and/or Galactus please.

Apart from Eternals, I can see them doing smaller, more personal stuff for the time being. The thing with doing the Infinity Gauntlet stuff already means they've basically blown their load with their biggest comic book event so anything else will be underwhelming. Civil War is done and Secret Invasion is off the table.

Wouldn't surprise me to see the sequel films like Dr Strange 2 and Black Panther 2 being smaller scale "Avengers" films like Winter Soldier was with a few major Avengers in the supporting cast.

Yeah. I would like to see them taking their time with lower stakes stuff for a handful of movies. It's why Homecoming worked really well for me. It was just Peter trying to be the best hero he can be with no big world-ending threat, just Vulture stealing gooseberry fool.

I definitely get the impression that the double whammy of Infinity War and then Endgame is something we're never going to see again. I can't see how they do something on that scale without it just seeming like they are repeating themselves.

I'd be surprised if they don't rework some of their other events in the same way as Civil War, where they followed the basic theme, but was fundamentally different in a lot of ways.

Chris Hemsworth has extended his Marvel deal by two films apparently - almost certainly Asgardians of the Galaxy and Thor 4.

Thor will be great in Guardians. As long as any future Thor films are Ragnarok quality then I will be happy.

Yeah I'm pretty happy with it.

The buzz on Avengers' second weekend seems to be that with repeat customers and loads of showings still sold out, it's gonna fly past $2 billion. It's the highest grossing foreign film of all time in China after ten days, and there's a definite chance that it challenges for Avatar's top spot.

How the strawberry float is Avatar still so high? Is it because of the price they could get away with charging because it was in 3D or something?
