Loved it, It’s not an Avengers movie - it’s an MCU movie.

It feels like the ‘event comic’ - spectacle and action everywhere. There’s a fair few character moments - but not many character arcs.

If you like then MCU it’s a perfect way to spend more time with the characters and world you love. There’s action, humour and some emotional beats

As it’s own stand alone film though it’s flawed - but that’s not what it’s made to be.

I guess at this point they assume people follow all of the movies. There’s no kind of explanation of who people are, where they currently are in the universe etc. It’s just... here’s this person let’s go

For a movie of this scale you couldn’t have had it any other way

Reet enjoyed it. Was pleasantly surprised at how quick the time ticks over. Also there is a bunch of great character moments throughout (Guardians are always a delight).

I think they’ve earned that confidence - the series isn’t meant to be taken as a bunch of standalone franchises, they’re all interconnected. The avengers literally could not exist without that.

I totally agree, at this point I doubt anyone interested in this movie hasn't at least seen one of the proceeding movies before it.

I thought about it more earlier today when someone at work asked if it was worth watching and really if you're going in blind you could probably get away with just watching one of the avengers movies, and one of the guardians and most of your character introductions would be covered there.

You probably need Dr. Strange and Civil War in there too I’d say.

If you're a fan, you've got to see it before you get spoiled.

If you're not a fan, good luck following what's going on!

Going to see this tomorrow. I'm impressed by how spoiler-free then general net has been the past couple of days. Normally, Facebook, Reddit et al become absolute no go zones for spoilerific headlines and the like, but there's been little to none in the way of that.

Maybe the internet age has finally developed a level of decorum, or maybe strawberry float all of importance happens in this movie.

(I doubt both these things).

Searching freely through the internet after watching the film, it does seem that there's less spoilers than with other films. Interestingly both me and a friend saw two separate fake spoilers before seeing the movie so maybe they're spreading more?

Can't wait to see this tonight. I haven't read act reviews but obviously know it's been very well received.

I'm trying to temper my expectations by remembering TLJ was exactly the same.

Don’t worry.

It’s hell lot better than The Last Jedi.

Shows TLJ up as the gooseberry fool show it was.

MCU>Star Wars at this point for me.

I really liked TLJ and Infinity War, and although I prefer the Star Wars Universe, Infinity War probably just about edges it for me.

I think I must be reaching tipping point with Superhero films, I mean this was alright, but I thought the ending was cheap as you know its getting undone because of all the other films, which means a lot of the moments lose any weight to them. Also really disingenuous having an announcement that Avengers 4 is not Infinity War 2, basically implying it would all be wrapped up.

Though I think most of my problems are just having seen too many Superhero films. Black Panther and Ragnarok I was also kind of bla with too

I thought they were two of the best movies in the MCU. I think the MCU is only getting stronger personally.
