Awesome :datass:

Surely they'll release a trailer soon then to hype it?

Jessica Jones might be October though, that's meant to be the end of this year.

I'm hoping for at least the trailer/footage they showed at NYCC, but apparently you don't usually get trailers for Netflix shows so maybe not.

Marvel’s Daredevil – Release Date, Set Image And Motion Poster

In an article about Netflix upcoming slate of original programs, USA Today didn’t really cover any new ground with Daredevil… mainly confirming everything we already know and letting us in on what we won’t be seeing:

Daredevil will be followed by Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Iron Fist, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and a combined Defenders series, each to be released about a year apart. Free of content restrictions, the shows have more “leeway” for violence and sex, “but people shouldn’t come to this expecting me to deliver the Spartacus of Marvel,” says Daredevil executive producer Steven DeKnight. But “we’re able to explore morally gray areas, where you’re rooting for the bad guy and questioning the good guy, which is more difficult on network TV.”

And they did provide a synopsis:

Marvel’s Daredevil (spring): Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) is a lawyer-turned-superhero daredevil by night in modern-day New York. Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and a combined Defenders series will appear at roughly one-year intervals.

But they did have a new image from the show… so that’s nice. And the “one-year intervals” comments means we probably won’t be seeing who will be playing Iron Fist for quite some time.

So excited for this. Daredevil is one of my favourite comic book characters, and with so many great arcs they should have plenty of material to work with.

Netflix announces 'Daredevil,' 'Bloodline,' 'Kimmy Schmidt' premiere dates
Fans hoping for more details about Netflix's Marvel plans were in luck, as Sarandos opened up a bit about the rollout of the five announced shows. He says viewers can expect them to come out "roughly a year" apart, with anywhere from eight to 15 months between premieres.

"We're not trying to hit a fall programming schedule or hit a grid number," Sarandos explains. "We want to give them enough room and enough time to make a great show. I don't want to set up a rigid time table."

The announcement of "Daredevil," "Jessica Jones," "Luke Cage" and "Iron Fist" that would culminate in a "Defenders" season seems to emulate the framework of Marvel's movies, and Sarandos says that fans can expect the same sort of sequel structure when it comes to those shows' second seasons. "They're all eligible to go into multiple seasons for sure, and contemplate that they will," he says.

When it comes to what will stipulate further seasons, he says, "Definitely in how well we are addressing both the Marvel fanbase but also the broader fanbase who may or may not ever get into one of these series because of their own preconceived notions. One thing we have a really great history of is probably a combination of the personalized merchandising and the subscription model that allows people to be a little more adventurous about what they watch. We may find that an audience way broader than the typical Marvel audience will try and fall in love with these shows and with the Marvel brand, and it will be universe-expanding for Marvel too."

Used to be one of mine too. I actually thought the Ben Afleck movie wasn't too bad, bordering on a good movie adaption. Hope this is at least as good.

Yes?

I still haven't seen the director's cut of Daredevil. Apparently it's a hell of a lot better than the normal version.

NETFLIX CLARIFIES RELEASE PLANS FOR MARVEL SERIES AFTER DAREDEVIL
Jessica Jones may not debut in 2015 after all.

Netflix announced today that Daredevil will debut on April 10th, but what about the other Marvel TV series the streaming service has in the works? Daredevil of course is only the first of five new Marvel series coming to Netflix – including A.K.A. Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and the team-up series, The Defenders. Marvel recently revealed Jessica Jones would also debut in 2015, but a more recent write up about Netflix’s plans in USA Today made it sound like it could take longer than that, saying the plan was for the series to debut about a year apart.

Today, at the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour, I asked Netflix head Ted Sarandos about these potentially conflicting reports. Regarding how long it would take for the shows to debut, he remarked, “You should think of it about as roughly a year. Some will roll in as early as eight months and others in 15 months apart, and basically what it is is we’re not trying to meet a fall programming schedule or trying to hit a grid number, so really we want to give the shows enough time.”

Sarandos added, “Jessica Jones hasn’t started production yet, so a lot happens from the first day on the set to the last day of production. So we want to give them enough room and enough time to make a great show, so I don’t want to set up a rigid timetable and deliver a show every eight months or every twelve months, but you should expect them about a year apart.

When I followed up to ask if that meant Jessica Jones likely would not debut in 2015, Sarandos replied, “It’s too hard to say now.”

All of which is to say, don't be surprised if A.K.A. Jessica Jones doesn't debut until 2016 or, at least, until the very end of 2015.

I was hoping we might get Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage in before Civil War kicks off :( unless all of the shows are Phase 3 and set after that event...

A year apart :? I could understand that if the entire series wasn't going to be available at once and it was more than 13 episodes.

Even more nonsensical if they plan second seasons. Unless the second seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones drop in the same years as Luke Cage and Iron Fist with greater character crossover, something like this:

2015: Daredevil

2016: Jessica Jones
2016: Daredevil S2

2017: Luke Cage
2017: Jessica Jones S2

2018: Iron Fist
2018: Luke Cage S2

2019: The Defenders

The Defenders dropping in 2019 would need to have some kind of crossover plot with Infinity War, you would think. It does make some kind of sense though.

Some audition video tapes have been leaked and it points to the villain in Jessica Jones being... Purple Man?

That would be the obvious choice. Curious to how dark it will get though.
