Still haven't watched anything past episode 2 of Punisher or any of Luke Cage S2. So far behind :fp:

Episode one of Iron Fist S2 wasn’t bad

I just finished Jessica Jones the other week so I could start Luke Cage and now they're shoving Iron Fist at me and promoting Daredevil. Netflix need to slow down.

I'm so far behind on these now, I don't mind them getting added to my backlog but it would be nice to have a breather to catch up a bit!

I still need to watch: JJ2 (2 eps left), TP1, LC2, and IF2.

They have certainly been busy with releasing new seasons this year!

I am up to date, other than IF2 which I will get around to at some point over the next month.

Yeah this has been their busiest period since they started. It is nice to know there is always going to be something new to see in the not too distant future but it does make it easy to fall behind the curve.

I think my problem was I watched Iron Fist S1 and Defenders S1 both in quite quick succession and as they were both fairly poor it was a bit of a gut punch to my enthusiasm for the whole thing, following that up with JJ2 also feels like a mistake as that has just been another blow!

Thankfully judging by peoples rankings I've now only got good-to-great stuff to catch up on so I'm hoping the journey should get more enjoyable again. :D

Netflix don't tend to delete their own shows, so it shouldn't really matter if you fall behind a bit. It's not a race. ;)

True, there isn't too much to worry about (first world problems and all that!) but it is nice to be able to watch things at the same time as others once in a while!

I'll be interested to see what happens when the new Disney service launches. I know these are Netflix co-productions but surely there is a risk that the old shows get pulled or new things will only appear on Disney directly?

Also, not totally related but I've been wondering recently how ruthless Netflix are in their approach to supporting their own content. I like to add things I like to a my watch list and catch up with them when I can so I'm rarely watching anything soon after it has been released, it could even be 6 months or a year later before I get to things. If Netflix only care about people who watch within a short window after a show goes up then I almost feel pressured to watch things earlier as I want to support those shows.

A recent example would be the cancelled Joel McHale Show - I enjoy this but due to various reasons had only watched the first 3-4 episodes out of a run that was probably 20+ episodes in total, my intention was always to watch these later and I would very much have liked them to have carried on making more, but they obviously decided not enough people were into it and so it got cancelled. But what if there were just lots of people like me who liked it and were just unable to watch it immediately? Now we've lost a show just because we didn't get round to it soon enough! If Netflix is going to push the "watch things when you want to, you're the schedule boss!" angle then they need to be clear about whether there is a coda to that along the lines of "but don't take too long or we'll cancel all the shows you like!"

Finished JJ2 last night, it was certainly not the best show but I'm not going to go quite so far as to call it a train wreck either. Tellingly by far the best episode was the one where Killgrave comes back - Tennant plays the role so well. As an episode it actually had the most interesting story playing out as well.

As others have said they do spend quite a lot of time away from Jones this season, but when the central story involving her is really not that interesting I can't imagine I would have wanted to see more of it! The trouble is that where decent B plots can do something to save a weak A plot, they don't manage to deliver on those either!

The stuff with Hogarth was just odd - it just didn't feel right that she would be taken in by these 2-bit hustlers like she was. Although her manipulation of the girl at the end was a decent resolution. Malcolm and Patsy are also just not very interesting characters at this point - they desperately need to do something to justify the level of attention the show gives them!

All in all I'd give it a 6/10 - not awful but pretty difficult to get through all the same.

On to The Punisher next

Current rankings from me would be:

DD1 > JJ1 > DD2/LC1 < TD < JJ2/IF1

She doesn't get any better I'm afraid :dread:

Whilst I'd say it's worth finishing it should be noted that none of the problems from the first half really get fixed in the second so I wouldn't judge anyone who gave up on it. That said IMO the best episode comes towards the end so there is that to look forward to!

Watched the first three episodes of The Punisher and I'm really enjoying it so far, so much better than the last few of these Netflix Marvel series I've watched.

It's pretty bloody brutal, which I guess is par for the course with Frank, but it still takes me back at times!

Half way through s2 of Iron Fist and enjoying it. Much better than s1 even though I enjoyed that more than I did JJ. Can't help but think the one who plays Walker would make a great Sarah Connor :datass:
