Looks alright, get the feeling this is a Switch exclusive as it wont be getting the Avengers game Square Enix is working on though.

This looks very promising. Hopefully it's got some depth to it. More Diablo 3, less LEGO Avengers.

Having never played Ultimate Alliance 1 or 2 what kind of games are these? They look like button mashing 3rd person beat em ups which I usually steer clear of, but with it being Marvel I'll probably give it a go.

They're basically Marvel Diablo. Four player co-op dungeon crawler.

3rd person action rpg/dungeon crawler.

Pick a team of 4 (you can change them mid-level etc) - actively control one at a time (you can switch between any of the 4 at a press of a button) and use attacks and 4 powers to smash through levels/enemies/bosses

Level up powers, stats and gear of your teams as you play through story to get stronger, new powers, combos etc.

Previous ones have had sweeping epic stories across the MU, and massive casts. Pure fan service with a solid (if not spectacular) gameplay loop.

I've really only one question - can I be Spider-Man and swing through the levels like in MUA1 & 2? If so then I'm in day 1.

I’d probably try and play through as much of the game as Thor, take it some levels may require certain characters though?

Not in the previous couple of games. You do get some benefits from having certain team mates together but not enough to cancel out the awesomeness of having Spidey and Deadpool on the same team.

At least that way you can focus on building up a really strong team of your fave 4 then and not have to worry about switching to other characters to progress.

Well I was hoping that it's a timed exclusive then I see that Nintendo is publishing it... *dreams shattered*

I'm definitely going to buy a digital copy of this. My kids kept losing their games, so I refused to buy any more Switch games until they find it. Wee monsters.

Not all characters were unlocked from the start (you often had to reach their point in the story)

But (I think exclusively) you can use any team combo you like at any point. Even if 1 were mandatory, the other 3 slots should be pickable.

In previous games "teams" or associated gave you bonuses. (e.g. Any 4 Avengers might give +5% damage, Any 4 X-Men +5% defense)

But not the point it was severally detrimental to play with your favorites.

All sounds pretty good really, 2019 seems to be shaping up to be a pretty good year for the Switch already.

I imagine the looks and performance can certainly be improved before it launches (unless its launching very early in 2019). Maybe they'll want it out towards the end of April, start of May to coincide with Avengers releasing?
