Just started doing the trials. A brilliant way to level up. I've taken hulk from level 9 to 19 in only a few trials. Loads of XP cubes as rewards and they are good fun.
If anyone wants to get an easy win on tough boss fights or trials. Keep xp cubes and use them during battles to level up as a level up is a full health and energy restore. So they are basically health potions.
Finished. Final level was a bit tiresome but last couple of fights were fun.
Going to have a break before I go back to unlock last 3 characters as the grind is a bit brutal. Trying to get a starter character from level 6 to 46 will take ages. Lots of things still to do and a ton of upgrades to purchase.
The trials with "defeat X amount of enemies" are good for levelling up. I've been doing that with two high level heroes and two low ones that I'm levelling up.
Slowly been chipping away at this, currently on the Dark Dimension level and just beat Dr Strange (he kicked my ass a few times though) currently my team are level 24 at the mo. I’m enjoying playing this in small chunks, can’t play for too long tho as it ends up feeling a tad repetitive.
Unlocked the 3rd last character. 2 more 2 go. Out him straight into my team and removed Scarlett who is terrible later in the game. Currently using Deadpool, secret character, Spiderman and storm.
Had a break and returned to the game. If it wasn't for the marvel license this would be a terrible game.
I'm enjoying the challenge maps and trying to unlock the last two characters but it requires so much grinding.
I wish they had made this a full release and had all DLC at the start as by the time it's out most people will have moved on.
Done with the story mode now, overall I really enjoyed it. It can get really repetitive so playing in small chunks was the way to go. I won’t bother going through any more trials or level up any of the other characters, might pick up the season pass if it even goes on sale but i’m in no rush to play more right now.
So I had two friends over on Friday night, we bought this and started playing it at about 9pm. Stopped at 5am to sleep, then finished it Saturday afternoon
First thing first, the camera in this is truly, godly awful:
That's the worst room in the game, by a long shot, but it was still a constant threat throughout. There were times we had to plan our approach to a room just to work with what the camera would let us do
Camera aside, it's a really fun game and we enjoyed it greatly. The biggest disappointments compared to Ultimate Alliance 2 were the lack of unique character dialogue (although it was funny having Venom speak all the generic hero dialogue when talking to characters) and the lack of fun team-up moves. Another notable difference is that, based on my memory, this game is a lot more boss-rushy with less general battling through stages. I'm not sure whether that's for better or worse, and think it depends on your characters as much as anything.
When it comes to characters, I went Star Lord > Scarlett Witch > Spider Gwen > Scarlett Witch > Deadpool > Daredevil > Elsa Bloodstone. Having never heard of Elsa Bloodstone before, I liked her so much that I stuck to her for the rest of the game - so that's a win for introducing new Marvel heroes!
We didn't play any of the infinity trials and I don't really have any intention of playing the game on my own. Had an absolute blast with beating the story and feel like I'm happily done there. Over a dozen hours seems generous enough!
It's definitely more fun split screen even with the camera.
I had a similar experience with the 1st game where we start late and finished when the sun came up we used to spin the camera with the right stick to annoy someone who would then hold their right stick in the opposite direction to counter our spin and there was no on screen info to say who was messing around with the camera that session ended up with someone rage turning off the Xbox before we reach a check point to save, losing 1-2 hours of progress
Is the Marvel Knights stuff out now? Is the DLC story incorporated and accessed in the main storyline? Or you have to finish the main game first? I still haven't picked up a switch
On DLC, I don't have the expansion pass which I assume you need for all of the extra stuff, so wouldn't know. I don't think you could slot anything into the main story without throwing off the level progression though.
Paid DLC isn't out until September I think. It's part of the story so more story and more characters. But the story could be a side mission rather than carrying on from the ending.
Colossus and Cyclops are free to everyone at the end of August.
