The ending cannot have been hinted in ME1, it's obvious Star Jesus was thrown in right at the end, otherwise Sovereign wouldn't have needed to go through all that trouble to get into the Citadel in ME1 and try to open the relay to let the reapers through.

What Bioware is basically telling us is this: Star Jesus has been on the Citadel all along and controls the reapers, but since he/she/it was too lazy to open the relay he controlled Sovereign and went through massive amounts of trouble to try and get it open, when Sovereign died, he sat on his ass, refused to flick the switch to start the invasion and controlled the reapers all the way from Dark Space to the galaxy which took like three years, even if he simply 'commands' them it is still absolutely ridiculous, he was thrown in at the very last second, almost as if they were expecting more time and EA came knocking and they panicked :fp:

Isn't it funny how the longer people have to ruminate on the endings, the more astute and entertaining the criticisms become. And the more damning. This video is the best piece I've seen on the debacle so far, done in the style of RedLetterMedia (without the annoying voice)

Some brilliantly observed stuff there.

That was very neatly done, it covers everything. Worth a watch.

Is it always Garrus and Liara that get off the crashed ship at the end, or was it just because they were in my squad for the last mission?

Neither. It depends on how often you have picked them for squadmate's and how much of their dialogue you have heard.

It also depends on the ending: If you choose Synthesis Joker is always accompanied by EDI and one of your squad mates from the last mission

Nope, I picked Ashley and Liara for the last mission and the second person out the ship was Javik. It depends on your "relationship" value with each squadmate.

I had Joker, EDI and Traynor, I think (despite EDI being in my squad when they were all "decimated"!).

Bloody synthesis. There goes our house with a white picket fence, two kids and a dog  Everything back on Earth was just awful. What a rubbish way to end what was the best new franchise in years. That strawberry floating child :fp:

He's obviously indoctrinated :shifty: and the "another story of the Shepard" is obviously the real battle after he fights his indoctrination :shifty: why else would it show Anderson and TIM using the destroying/controlling options when Shepard was the first organic to reach that part of the Citadel.

I though the London battle was a good set-up to the real, final battle. The real, final battle that never came.

Oh well.

The first section was ruined by the horrendous shaky cam by the laser, and the later sections were ruined by the constant spamming of brutes. The 5-on-1 final battle by the missiles was so dull.

Marauder Shields...

I thought the atmosphere was great though. The combat was neither harder or easier than anywhere else but you got a sense of just how strawberry floated up Earth was. The exception to this is the fight by the missiles, which was rock-hard and really frustrating.

For me, that section was only difficult because of the control scheme and the Banshee's stupid teleport ability. Trying to run away while making sure the Banshee doesn't do anything stupid, and Shepard can't interact with a wall unless the camera's pointing at it :fp:

Needless to say, did it first time :shifty:

I was expecting some kind of jacked-up fight with the Illusive Man at the end, after the video logs showing him undergoing some kind of surgery, I thought it was going to be like that godawful Kai Leng fight only with an old bloke (similar to the Atlas fight in Bioshock, I guess). Then you'd kill him and he'd deflate and Shepard would blow his head off and be all "That's for Thessia". Then the Reapers would bugger off and everyone would go back to living their normal lives.

I think their major mistake with it was showing you what was controlling the Reapers. Should've just left it as an unanswered mystery of the universe. Especially as all the Reapers have been "YOU CANNOT COMPREHEND OUR PURPOSE" then the kid just goes "Yeah, I use the Reapers to wipe out all intelligent life because I want to. Simple, really."

EDIT: Also, reading back through the first part of the thread, how on earth did people not manage to save both the Geth and the Quarians on Rannoch? :? Did they just not import a ME2 save or something?

If you don't do Tali or Legion's loyalty missions in 2 you can only save one species or the other.

I didn't get Tali's loyalty but did get Legions in 2 and still saved both races and united them in the fight. It's down to your paragon being high enough.

I always thought that Soveriegn's dialogue on Noveria was just egotistical bullshit. If others species really are too stupid to comprehend the nature or purpose of the reapers and their defeat is 'inevitable', why even bother speaking with them? It's like getting into an arguement with someone and then claiming you don't have to explain your side because they would never understand. Petty. The only purpose I can find for Soveriegn's conversation is as a distraction, although it was probably just included by the writers as exposition.

I would have preffered if the reapers were just stripping resources and eliminating potential threats, a 'pinnacle' species living off the work of lower species.
