I know why they complained originally but complaining again before you've even seen how they're going to try and address it is just classic internet whining.

Although I initially didn't have a problem with the ending, when thinking about another play through and if I would go renegade?, class type?, who I would save?, etc and thinking of all the different things I would like to see, it sucks to think that no matter what the ending would be the same. It's baffling really, the amount of insignificant things that are added to pay fan service to the first two games, yet nothing you've done has any consequence with regards to the ending.

And that is the worst bit: The ending is where it would be easiest to differentiate, because it's basically just a cinematic. There's no need for all the widely different endings to lead to the same gameplay in the next game, because the story's finished, and there won't be a next game.

It's also worth pointing out that neither of the Shepard VO artists have received any news from BioWare, which all but confirms the Star Child scene will be unaltered.

So basically there's going to be some Animal House style ending?

It's better than nothing, but given that most people complain about the entire style/nature of the ending, I'm not sure this fix counts as "listening to fans", but also I don't think they could/would ever do anything else.

People are getting worked up over the VOs? They'd have to come into the studio to do the other DLC anyway.

Can you imagine the uproar if Bioware had come out and said, 'we've listened to all of the feedback that we've received from our fans and have decided to leave the ending the way it is.'

Basically they're damned if they do, damned if they don't.

And yes, you can say that they shouldn't have released the ending in its current form in the first place but the position they're in at the moment is to try and do something about it and get whined at or leave it and get absolutely whined at until the end of time.

...or they could release a Corpo-speak PR statement claiming they've listened to fans while at the same time ignoring what the fans have actually been saying. Oh, and instead of using the opportunity to explain some reasoning behind their choice for the ending they could simply state once more how awesome they think their game is.

I agree that they couldn't possibly have pleased everyone, but this half measure pleases no-one.

To be honest, it's kind of what I expected. I doubted that they were going to anything drastic to the ending because I genuinely think they've got plans for dlc or even full sequels that need will need the ending to stand as is. If what we get is an animal-house style epilogue then so long as that starts from the moment the fight on earth starts and addresses exactly how, for instance, your ground squad came to be on the Normandy and how said Normandy happened to be halfway through a mass-jump and the time gooseberry fool went down then at least the ending would be coherent if still an artistic and narrative abortion.

To be honest, enough time has passed now that I've just written it off as an excellent series with a terrible ending, so anything above that now is a bonus.

That's when it got to me too. One crap ending I could have taken. But all of them being exactly the same?

Warning: Too angry for spoiler tags.

Seriously. So the whole excuse for killing all sentient life is that it creates synthetic life which rebels? This is the most retarded excuse for genocide that I've ever heard. And this isn't the thing that pisses me off the most.

I did everything the good and hard way. Did every mission on all games. Saved every person possible on ALL games. Got every single war asset that wasn't bugged. Spent 4 hours getting my Galactic Readiness to 100%. And the ending you get is dictated by whether you choose to jizz red, green or blue over the galaxy. Not what you've done. And those three endings are pretty much exactly the same.

I think i've ranted enough about the ending  But after a month i'm working under the theory that EA rushed Bioware so they didn't have time to come up with endings that incorporated our choices and stuff.....or Casey Hudson and Mac Walters were drunk when they wrote the Starchild ending.

Bitching about the ending aside, i'm playing through it ME3 and despite the unnecessary and avoidable flaws it is a good game. They did a good job of building up the Reapers and making them look ruthless and unstoppable.
