Could be they've been influenced by them but it's way too stupid to actually be an ISIS attack

A random old dude is hardly a high profile target

This. Plausible that it's a lone wolf/spur of the moment type attack. IS are all for those.

Even though it's extremely likely that this is an individual with mental health problems as opposed to an organised IS attack. I choose to believe that this is a direct response to Britain's attacks in Syria and thus proves Prime Minister David Cameron was lying when he said airstrikes would protect Britain.

I choose to believe this version of events because it directly supports my own political World view.

I really think incidents like these shouldnt be credited to terrorism. The acknowledgement is their victory. They should be treated as criminals - assault with a deadly weapon, attempted murder. But not terrorism.

Class post, this.

Not seen the video but from the account on the guardian it made it sound as though he was punching one of the victims to the ground, then continued assaulting him before pulling the machete? In which case I do wonder why no one tried to intervene in the mean time rather than running by. Not once he pulled the weapon like, I'm not expecting someone to be Rambo.

Might have gotten the wrong impression.

I think I'm going to have to stop reading/listening to the news. So much bullshit. :dread:

'How did Twitter react to the tube station stabbing?' article on the BBC. Good lord, who gives a gooseberry fool. Please stop referencing Twitter and social media all the time. :fp:

And all this 'you ain't no muslim bruv' bollocks. It was one person shouting something, but now it's suddenly a new campaign against radicalisation that unites everybody (apparently).

This obsession with analysing everything drives me nuts.

The reason twitter gets referenced so much is because it's a massive searchable source of public views so they don't have to bother actually interviewing people to get the soundbites they want.

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

I'm a fan. You couldn't ask for a more real-world normal-person response to these atrocities, and the way both the muslim community and Britain at large have embraced the saying goes a long way to show just how little time your average muslim gives these kinds of people. Which is great considering there's always one or two when these kind of attacks occur that demands Islam comes out from every quarter and denounces these despicable acts, otherwise it's somehow reasonable to interpret silence as acceptance. :dread:

I will be genuinely amazed if it's not just ranting for extra attention.

Theres been discussion on how people cower behind their phones filming, instead of interfering.

If you know how to disarm people like that, then go ahead.

Interfering?

One guy who actually got involved criticised the rest didn't he?

It does seem strange to me that supposedly he began by just assaulting someone with his fists and no-one got involved. I'm not surprised people weren't jumping at the chance after he pulled a machete.

Filming it can actually be beneficial, for evidence, when the guy is taken to court.

I'm sure the guy getting kicked and knifed was really thankful.

Gonna be honest, I'm a tiny, weak little manchild and I would pee my pants and run away if I saw a guy getting machete'd.
