Such fond memories of the first game. I had a mod that gave you the lobby area from The Matrix with loads of baddies to blast, so much fun playing that over and over again

Max Payne always felt like a game that ushered in the "modern generation of games" to me (whatever that means). I have no idea why though.

Yeah I know what you mean. Very dark storyline and subject matter, revolutionary game mechanic (bullet time), cinematic levels, cutscenes and storyboard sections. It certainly felt very modern and grown-up when I first played it.

Will they get new actors for the comic strip cut scenes do you think?
I suppose they can just upscale the old ones?

One of my favourite bits in Max Payne 3 is ironically where there is no action at all, and you spend maybe 10 or 15 minutes just walking through the Favela.

Was it 1 or 2 that ran poorly on PS2?

Now this I’d be tempted by! Loved Max Payne 1 & 2, never did get around to 3 though. Hope the cheat menu stays in there, having unlimited bullet time was ace back on the PS2

I never played 3 either. If it was bundled in as some sort of pre-order incentive I would be tempted, but given that was not a Remedy game i'm guessing it's unlikely.

Maybe I will pick it up next time it's on sale on one of the console stores.

I've also never played MP3 and I don't really know why. I think it just passed me by as it came out at the same time as Diablo 3 (10 years ago! ffs) which I sunk many many hours into.

MP3 is alright but it's not a patch on the Remedy games. Nowhere near as fun and took itself far too seriously.

It was one of the new batch of games that has been made BC. It was reduced to about £8 in a weekly sale, no doubt it’ll come down again.

Might buy it when it next goes cheap, or they’ll probably plan to re-release MP3 if the other do well.

This following Monkey Island news? For me, two awesome pieces of news. What's next, a Warren Spector Deus Ex?

Warren's been pretty quiet since the System Shock 3 project went tits up. I'm not convinced I'd be interested in him tackling Deus Ex again in all honesty given his recent track record.

Now if Harvey Smith and Arkane want to give it a crack I'll be all aboard the hype train!

Max Payne was my very first ‘next gen’ experience on Xbox after only having a PlayStation at home. Thought it was amazing at the time, will probably get this

These are on sale on Steam at the moment, £2.99 for the bundle of 1+2, bargain.

I imagine that these remakes are a long way off so I'm going to give the originals a replay in the meantime, bring on the Payne!
